Dierks Bentley's 3 Kids: All About Evalyn, Jordan and Knox

Dierks Bentley’s three children – Evalyn Day, Jordan Catherine and Knox – have been involved in his music career.

In 2005, the country singer-songwriter eloped with his childhood sweetheart, Cassidy Bentley. Daughters Evalyn and Jordan were the first in 2008 and 2010, respectively, followed by son Knox in 2013.

“One child changes your whole life. Two is crazy. [With] three you already know what to do so you don’t stress so much about the little things,” Dierks told PEOPLE about the transition.

While Dierks and his kids are fat as thieves, the “Beers on Me” singer told PEOPLE that he and Cassidy are “absolutely not” going to have any more kids. “I’ll be about 58 before Cass and I have time alone!” he laughed.

After raising their children in Nashville, the couple decided to move and put down roots in Colorado. The change of scenery and quiet was a welcome break for Dierks, who said the move made family life a higher priority.

“I’m making up for lost time with my family,” he previously told PEOPLE. “It’s been 18 years of touring and being away every weekend. Now I’m somewhere I can ride my bikes to school with my kids. I put a camper on the back of my 1994 Chevy and we go camping almost every weekend.”

Although the Bentley family no longer lives permanently in Colorado (they have since moved back to Nashville), they still own a family home in the mountains.

Of the lessons he hopes to pass on to his children, Dierks said, “I want them to grow up to be great people, to always be aware of their surroundings and to serve in some way.”

The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Evalyn “Evie” Day, in October 2008. A theater kid with a powerful singing voice, Evalyn is a star in the making. Her vocals appear on many of her father’s best songs, including “Different for Girls” and “Thinking of You.”

“Evie has a great natural voice and loves the theater,” Dierks said of his first-born child while appearing in Good morning America in 2021. The couple have performed together on numerous occasions, so much so that Evalyn is a favorite surprise guest among her father’s fans.

“I want him to just explore it on his own terms, but it’s really a gift to get the chance to play together on stage,” Dierks explained. “It’s so much fun to look over there and see your daughter singing in front of 10, 15, 20,000 people. That’s ridiculous.”

As for whether Evalyn plans to sign a record deal soon, Dierks added, “It’s all fun now. We’ll see if it goes anywhere, but she definitely has a much better voice than me, that’s for sure.

Recently, the duo swapped microphones for car keys when Dierks took Evalyn for a driving lesson in their neighborhood. Dierks captured the moment on Instagram.

“Now look both ways,” he told his daughter before making a funny face at the camera. “Yes, you have to turn the wheel to make the car go the way you want it to.”

Evalyn made her red carpet debut at the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony.

Jordan “JJ” Catherine was born on December 25, 2010.

He shares his namesake with his father’s best friend, who died in 2009 from cystic fibrosis and complications from a lung transplant. “I know he’s looking down and loves watching you embrace life with the zest you have,” Dierks wrote in a birthday tribute to his daughter.

Elsewhere in the post, Dierks spoke of Jordan’s “creative and kind, loving spirit,” which contributed to her budding theater and dance career. The country singer is the first to admit that his daughter is wise beyond her years.

Jordan also inspired her father to write her song “I Get To,” after a heartwarming conversation they shared one morning in the school line.

“I dropped her off at school one day and I said, ‘Yeah, I’ve got to go write songs after I drop you off.’ She says, ‘You mean, you can write songs today.’ And the song I wrote that day was called ‘I Get To,'” Dierks told The Boot during a 2019 press event. “She’s so smart.”

The father-daughter duo had a good share of teaching and funny moments. While enjoying a day off from the tour, Dierks took a Jordan bra to the mall. In a hilarious TikTok video, the “Gold” singer followed Jordan to a bra display, prompting him to say “Call mom.”

Knox Bentley, 10

Knox was born on October 9, 2013 in Nashville.

“My wife and I liked the name [Knox]. It’s simple — my name consists of one syllable. It just came up and we stuck with it,” Dierks told PEOPLE at the time.

Not one for center stage, Knox inherited his parents’ love of sports. He is a member of the travel hockey team and had the honor of co-hosting the NHL Awards with his father in 2023. “Hockey plays a big part of my daily life,” Dierks said in a press release. “I’ve been to rinks all over the country with my traveling hockey son. I coach his spring league games and spend hours at the local hockey shop, telling him, ‘No, you don’t need a new stick!’ ”

Speaking to the NHL’s Tracey Myers, Dierks said Knox was “so excited” to meet some of his hockey heroes at the time.

“He loves the Preds, but I’d definitely say he’s also a big Oilers fan… He loves being in sports. If we’re not watching on TV, he’s playing it, he is [watching] YouTube clips, always watching highlights of this or that,” Dierks told Country Now.

In 2019, Knox made his debut in the music video for his father’s single, “Living.” The mini-movie doubled as “an opportunity to hang out with my son on a day off and just do the things we do anyway — kind of on steroids,” Dierks explained.

In the clip, the father-son team embark on a busy day that takes them to an arcade, a water park, a go-kart track and a giant foam pit, before returning to the family couch.

“It’s basically just me and Knox, just a day in the life,” Dierks said. “The two of us, we just do what we do when we’re not on the road, which is a lot. We pack a lot into one every day.”
