Disneyland Can Build New Attractions Up to 300 Feet — Their Biggest Ever — If New Zoning Is Passed

Disneyland may reach new heights with future attractions!

A new zoning law currently being proposed would allow “three additional structural themed elements (for a total of four) to be up to 300 feet tall” within Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, according to the resort’s plan.

The project, known as DisneylandForward, has been approved by the Anaheim Planning Commission but still needs City Council approval.

Currently, parks are allowed to build one structure up to 250 feet tall. However, if DisneylandForward is adopted, both parks could accommodate two structures of up to 300 feet.

Anaheim spokesman Mike Lyster tells PEOPLE that in addition to the four structures, there could be “two built along Disneyland Drive and one in the Toy Story parking lot, if redeveloped.”

But Lyster confirms, “There are no suggestions or details on potential thematic elements at this time.”

There are currently no 300-foot-tall structures in any of the parks. Lyster confirms that the largest structures in the parks are the Matterhorn at Disneyland and Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Escape! at Disney California Adventure.

However, none of the structures reached the maximum height allowed in the park, which is 250 feet. Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Escape! is 183 feet tall, while the Matterhorn is 147 feet tall.

Along with possible new structures, Disney would also provide a minimum investment of $1.9 billion in DisneylandForward.

The project would update rides and attractions, lodging, entertainment and shopping over the next 10 years. Before the project was announced in January, President of Products Josh D’Amaro teased the possibility of introducing attractions from franchises like Frozen, Coco, Black Panther, Tangled, Peter Pan, Zootopia, Toy Story and Throne in Disneyland.

In addition to park updates, Disney has proposed several initiatives that serve the Anaheim community. The proposals include affordable housing, a three-acre community park and street and transportation upgrades.

Additional City Council hearings regarding DisneylandForward are expected in April and May.
