Disneyland's 2023 Holiday Decor Includes More Than 25,000 Holiday Plants and a 60-Foot-Tall Christmas Tree

Disneyland is making snow again in Southern California for the holidays

It’s snowing in Southern California — but only on Main Street, USA. Christmas has arrived at Disneyland, and the resort has pulled out all the stops for the winter season.

During the visit, guests will be greeted by an incredible number of holiday plants this year: over 25,000 poinsettias, cyclamen and flowering plants, according to a Disney press release.

There’s also a 60-foot-tall Christmas tree on Disneyland Park’s Main Street, with 1,800 ornaments and 100 candles. The resort’s other park, California Adventure, has its own evergreen offering that stretches 50 feet. It also has vintage inspired decorations.

However, the real spectacle is the Sleeping Beauty Castle, which has been specially renovated including more than 25,000 LED icicles.

For those looking for a little taste of the winter season, Disneyland continues to make “snow” for park guests during the nighttime hours — and now, for the first time, it will do so in the Downtown Disney District. Snow in shopping districts starts later this month on November 24th and will happen every 30 minutes.

Disneyland’s annual gingerbread house has been recreated in the lobby of Disney’s Grand California Hotel & Spa.

The house is a replica of the hotel, is nine feet tall, 12 feet wide, and is made of 690 pounds of gingerbread. Eagle-eyed Disney fans can keep an eye out for 25 “hidden Mickeys” in the candy store’s exterior.

Reimagined rides

As always, It’s a Small World and Haunted Mansion are being transformed into special holiday edition rides.

The Haunted Palace in Disneyland Park is visited by Tim Burton’s characters in winter The Nightmare Before Christmas.

At California Adventure, two Cars Land rides also added to the holiday spirit. Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree have special Christmas music and a theme.

New clothes for Mickey and Minnie

Mickey, Minnie and friends are hitting the parks this year in mid-century modern inspired outfits instead of the traditional Christmas red and green combos. Festive hats and bows complete the look.

Disneyland is a favorite celebrity destination, and this year alone has attracted players such as quarterback Patrick Mahomes, actress Rebel Wilson and iconic actor Dick Van Dyke.

This comes even amid the recently announced increase in fares. For example, date-based ticket prices on more desirable days will see an increase of $5 to $15, and the most expensive one-day tickets will cost $194. That’s an 8.4% increase over Disneyland’s previous price of $179.
