Dolly Parton Says She’s ‘Always in Costume at Christmas’ — See Some of Her Most Festive Looks!

Dolly Parton embodies the Christmas spirit with her fascinating wardrobe.

The “Jolene” singer, 77, opened up a new Instagram post about dressing for the holidays, as she shared photos showing off her holiday costumes and casual Christmas clothes in her closet.

Parton opened her carousel on Instagram with a throwback photo of herself decorating Christmas cookies with a toddler in her arms. In the video, she looks at the camera with sugar smeared on her cheek and nose while decked out in a Santa sweater and matching Santa earrings.

In another shot, she showed off an elegant white dress with faux fur trim on the neckline, bottom and sleeves placed on a mannequin. The white dress is reminiscent of the other dresses she wore for holiday performances.

She also shared a snap of a trio of red Christmas bodysuits, each with their own Santa-inspired design, with one suit featuring Santa’s signature buttons, while the other featured white faux fur trim around the bust and sleeve ends.

“I’m always in costume for Christmas,” she captioned the post.

“If I’m not in a Santa suit, I’m wearing red and green.” I wear sweaters with Christmas lights on them that I press a button and light up,” she explained. “My hairstylist, Cheryl Riddle, even puts Christmas lights in my hair for Cookie Night.”

She concluded the post with a greeting for her new book, Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, and said he was talking about “so many Christmas memories and more” of hers.

The “9 to 5” singer has worn some fun Christmas costumes over the years.

During her TV special, Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magical Christmas, last year she donned a skin-tight reindeer bodysuit dazzled with rhinestones, complete with a red bow tie. She also wore an elegant white jumpsuit with the initials “DP” printed on the lapel.

While reactions to her fun combos have often been positive, that’s not always the case. Last month, she made headlines for wearing a version of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader uniform that featured a white vest with blue stars, a blue crop top with a bare chest, and white shorts while performing at the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving game against the Washington Commanders.

Some people praised The 77-year-old singer because of her daring combination, while others questioned should she have worn clothes at her age.

Several stars, including Parton’s sister Stella Parton and Whoopi Goldberg, came to her defense, with Stella saying on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Personally, I thought my older sister Dolly was cute as hell in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleader costume at the Thanksgiving halftime show.”
