Written and created by Ryan Murphy, the series, whose first two episodes are set to air on Wednesday, September 25, stars Niecy Nash-Betts as detective Lois Tryon, who witnesses a “series of heinous crimes” in a small town that feels “creepy personally.”
“At home, Lois struggles with a strained relationship with her daughter (Raven Goodwin), her husband in long-term hospice care, and her own inner demons,” the synopsis explains. “Without a trace and unsure who to turn to, she accepts the help of “Sister Megan” (Micaela Diamond), a nun and journalist from the Catholic Guardian.”
“Sister Megan, with her troubled past, has seen the worst of humanity, but still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears that the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan follow clues, they find themselves caught up in a sinister web that only raises more questions than answers,” the synopsis adds.

An exclusive source recently told PEOPLE that Nash-Betts also “had the best time filming” with the athlete. “She just adores him. [Travis] he was super happy on set and he and Niecy got along really well, nothing was forced,” the source said.
Nash-Betts later echoed the source, telling PEOPLE on Sept. 23 that he was “very professional” and “always came prepared” to the shoot.
“Travis was very open. He was very open when given a note or made a suggestion. So receptive. ‘Tell me what I don’t know. Tell me what you think about it,'” she recalled. “I like that he didn’t come in trying to act like, ‘I know everything and I know everything.’ ”
Nash-Betts added that the tight end was “so receptive,” as she noted, “Listen, I love the cast and I want you to win. So anything I can do to help be a part of helping you create, find moments, you name it it’s a little different, I was totally there for it.”
“I just think fans will find him very charming in this role,” she teased.
