Donna Kelce Says Jason and Travis ‘Loved’ Their Childhood Cat: ’Flash Was an Athlete’ (Exclusive)

Donna Kelce walks down memory lane.

As she prepares to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas this Sunday, Donna reveals some little-known fun facts about her sons, Jason and Travis Kelce — including how much they loved their childhood cat!

Donna tells PEOPLE, “We had a cat growing up. It was fun with Flash.”

In addition to once being a beloved member of the Kelce family, Flash was the perfect cat for two future NFL stars Jason, 36, and Travis, 34.

“They loved Flash because Flash was an athlete. Let me tell you, that cat was amazing,” adds Donna.

These days, the Kelce family doesn’t include cats, but Donna says that could change for Jason and his wife, Kylie Kelce.

In December, Kylie, 31, said she told Jason she wanted to get a cat during her appearance on a bonus episode of the podcast New heights with Jason and Travis Kelce.

“No, here’s the deal, I told Jason I wanted to get a cat,” Kylie said in the episode before telling Travis, “And he told me no. And I feel like you might like cats now.”

Kylie was probably hinting at Travis’ relationship with Taylor Swift, who is a proud cat mom, which could sway his opinion. The singer-songwriter’s pet family includes three cats – Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button – whom she openly adores.

Donna tells PEOPLE she thinks Jason and Kylie’s decision to get a cat may have been delayed until after the Super Bowl. “I don’t know what’s going to happen with the cat because they’re gone. They were traveling, going to the playoffs for Travis,” she says.

“I have a feeling it probably wasn’t the best time and we’ll see what happens in the future on that,” she adds.

And as Ziploc’s new director of leftovers, Donna recalls another memory from raising her sons: arguments over leftovers.

“My boys, they ate so much that there weren’t a lot of leftovers, but a lot of times, especially on the weekends, I’d make enough food for three, four, five days,” says Donna, “But the problem was I’d put them in Ziplocs and they’d brought back seconds and thirds the same night, so it was hard to keep the leftovers, but I tried to cut down on some of the fighting by putting their names on Ziplocs or handing out the leftovers outside.”

According to Donna, the leftovers that most likely got Jason and Travis to try it as kids are “probably the rigatoni,” she says. “They just love it.”

These days, Donna predicts NFL stars keep their refrigerators stocked with balanced options. “I guess it’s probably pizzas, and they have vegetables too because they eat quite well during the season and I know they portion things out and it takes them a while.”

Donna continues, “And obviously there are people who cook for them, so whether it’s a wife or a chef, they have a lot of it in Ziploc bags because you can quickly see it in the fridge and you can use it right away instead of having to search the whole fridge in looking for things.”

Aside from practicality, Donna says she’s excited to be the chief scrap officer to raise awareness about waste.

“I think it’s important for guests and hosts to bring their own Ziploc bags because there’s so much food waste at the moment. It was £18 million after watching the big games last year, so that’s a bit crazy. Can you imagine 290 football fields of pizza throw away after such a party?”

And Donna has a unique tip for anyone heading to the big game – Ziploc bags are clear, making them stadium-approved! “If you forget your clear bag when you go to any stadium, put your stuff in a Ziploc gallon bag because that’s a carry-on. Sometimes people forget it or they haven’t bought it yet because maybe it’s the first time I’ve ever been to a stadium. It’s a little trick we use.”
