Drew Barrymore lets her audience fall in love with her misfortune.
Barrymore, 48, hosted Martha Stewart on Friday’s episode The Drew Barrymore Show and took the moment to ask Stewart, 82, if she had any thoughts on napping during the day while the dog sleeps on her guest’s lap.
“I said I had a very strong opinion about them,” Barrymore remarked, after saying on the show last month that the act “pissed me off”.
When Stewart asked why Barrymore was against the act, the talk show host and actor said her frustration stemmed from a previous relationship with a man she too often felt was napping.
“I’m just — I was in a relationship with a guy who was just napping all the time. It made me sick,” she said. “Yeah, just always – he was so tired all the time and had to sleep all the time. It’s really about him.”

While Barrymore didn’t specify who the other person in the nap-filled relationship was, she may have said more than she meant to when she asked Stewart if she would “date a man who doesn’t work and naps all the time?”
“Did I say that out loud?” she said, after Stewart asked for clarification on her comment “it didn’t work.” Stewart, meanwhile, said she loves “cat naps in the car.”
“Napping when you’re tired is a good way to catch up,” Stewart said, explaining that she would date a sleeper during the day: “If he was the most beautiful and handsome man in the world and I was madly in love with him and he wanted to take a nap every now and then time, that’s fine with me.”

When Barrymore previously opened up about her loathing of naps on the show last month, she told co-host Ross Mathews: “If you want the most unsexy thing, take a nap.”
“I think ‘it’s an unproductive daily rant.’ I think it’s bananas,” she said when asked by Mathews why she doesn’t like to take naps. “I’ve never been able to nap in my life. Why do I feel this way, people? Why do I find napping so unsexy and unattractive. I must have dated a napper in a past life and I’m still bitter or something.”

Barrymore is a single mother – she shares daughters Olive (11) and Frankie (9) with ex-husband Will Kopelman, whom she divorced in 2016.
About a year ago, 50 first dates star shared that she’s started dating again for the first time in years, and recently admitted on her show that Taylor Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce inspired her to stop overthinking dating.
“I don’t know, it was so calm and confident and normal,” she said of Swift going public with her current relationship. “It made me think I should do this too and I thank her for that.”
