Drew Seeley Thinks Vanessa Hudgens 'Resented' Him on High School Musical Tour Because She Wanted to Sing with Zac Efron

Vanessa Hudgens may have missed then-boyfriend Zac Efron High school musical concert tour, according to Drew Seeley.

Revisit Will Friedle and Sabrina Bryan’s podcast about a recent episode of the Disney Channel Original Movie Magic rewindSeeley has been open about joining High school musical thanks for High School Musical: Concertwho played 51 shows across the US, Canada and Latin America in 2006 and 2007.

Seeley famously recorded vocals for Efron HSM character, Troy Bolton, who were allegedly mixed up with Efron’s in the 2006 Disney Channel hit movie.

“I was never told why they did it the way they did it,” Seeley told Friedle and Bryan. “But I think they were within three, four weeks of shooting the actual movie, and they had me, not Zac. Me and the rest of the film crew go to the studio for four days in a row and record all the songs together. So yeah, I knew I was doing it.”

Seeley had no recollection of being awkward with the rest of the cast. “I hit it off with them,” he said. “They were so wonderful.”

At the same time, he said, “I think Vanessa resented it a little while I was on tour because she said, ‘I want to sing to my boyfriend every night, not this guy.’ ”

Hudgens and Efron met at an audition for High school musical in 2005 and later confirmed their relationship in 2007. They went on to appear together in two sequels, in 2007 High school musical 2 and in 2008 High School Musical 3: Senior High.

The couple reportedly ended their relationship in 2010, and a source told PEOPLE that the two are “100 percent still good friends.”

Hudgens is now married to baseball player Cole Tucker with whom she has one child.
