Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos had doubts when it came to showing off their New York townhouse to the world.
Ripa, 54, admitted the day Living with Kelly and Mark on Wednesday, Dec. 11, that she and her husband, 53, were initially unenthusiastic about listing their home in Architectural Digestwhere it is currently in the January issue.
“I have to tell you, I was very against it because I felt like … we were always saying no,” Ripa shared of the magazine’s offer to publish their Upper East Side townhouse, where they’ve lived for twelve years. “I always felt like it was some kind of baksuza. It’s like you’re calling out the luck of your house,” she added.
Although there is no documentation about AD jinx, it’s a long-standing trend that some A-listers tend to put their home up for sale shortly after being published in a luxury publication. Ripa, however, says she’s not going anywhere, calling her current residence her “forever” home.
Despite the hesitation, the star revealed Live that she ended up being very impressed with the way their home was presented, as she showed some photos from their home AD shoot.
“First of all, when an architecture magazine like this walks into your house, they make it so — like, I couldn’t believe this is the same house I’m living in. It’s so glamorous,” Ripa continued. “And they removed all evidence that we lived there.”

“To be clear, when we moved in, it looked like this for five minutes and then she took over,” she explained of Lola, 23, who lives in London with her British boyfriend. “But I sent her this picture and I said, ‘I’d like you to get your bedroom back to this level of order,'” the mum-of-three joked. She and Consuelos also have sons Michael, 27, and Joaquin, 21.

Ripa also admitted that she and her husband don’t usually dress as stylishly as they appeared in their shoot – which saw the couple in smart matching knits and tailored pieces.
“We don’t dress like this at home at all. I don’t even put on make-up or do my hair,” she said.
“And I’m always in sweatpants,” Consuelos added.
“I’m very careful about the house,” he also admitted of their longtime home.
In the end, though, the couple said the experience “was a lot of fun.”
“Would you say it’s the most glamorous version of the house ever?” asked Ripa, to which Consuelos replied, “Yeah, they made it look good.”
