Dua Lipa’s 2 Siblings: All About Her Sister Rina and Brother Gjin

Dua Lipa and her siblings come from musical roots.

Dua is the eldest child of Anes and Dukagjin Lipa. Dua’s mother Anesa is Bosnian and works in tourism, while her father Dukagjin is Albanian and sang in the rock band Oda.

Anesa and Dukagjin had their first child Dua on August 22, 1995. She became a big sister six years later when her sister Rina was born on May 14, 2001. Her first and only brother, Gjin, was born a few years later on 12.30. in 2005

Like her superstar sister, Rina is no stranger to the spotlight, having competed in dance during her childhood. She has amassed over 875k followers on Instagram, where she can be found posting commercials and modeling for brands such as Miu Miu and Versace.

At the age of 17, Dua’s brother Gjin also boasts an impressive following on social media. In October 2023, he started producing music, continuing the musical legacy of his sister and father.

Lipa’s siblings mostly grew up in London

Dua’s parents lived in Kosovo (then part of Yugoslavia) and in Bosnia until 1992, when the war in Bosnia began. Anesa and Dukagjin sought refuge in London, where Dua was born in 1995.

When Dua was 11, her father was offered a job that would move their family to Pristina, the capital of Kosovo.

“I was excited,” Dua recalled Guard from the news. “We always spoke Albanian at home. I had my relatives in Kosovo whom I never met.”

However, the “Physical” singer quickly realized she wanted to return to London to further her burgeoning talent for musical theatre. She said she felt the pressure of separating her siblings to pursue her passion.

“I didn’t want to let them down – partly because I didn’t want them to move to London to look after me,” she continued. “My little sister and brother [Rina and Gjin] they just settled down at school in Pristina. I didn’t want to separate the family.”

Rina was a competitive dancer

During her adolescence, Rina competed in dance. She competed in the former British dance competition Rock Challenge and even won the Jack Petchey Award in 2014.

“I started doing ballet when I was very young and I loved it very much,” said Rina Numéro Netherlands. “I wore pointe shoes at a very young age – it was something I was so passionate about.”

In 2018, Dua received two titles at the Brit Awards: British Female Solo Singer and Breakthrough Artist. While accepting the awards at the O2 Arena in London, Dua invited Rina and Gjin on stage in a sweet moment.

“I didn’t even know what I was going to say on stage and I said, ‘Come with me! You two — with me,” she told Off Set. “They were so terrified. When we got off the stage, my little brother and sister said, ‘Why did you do that to us?’ ”

“They said, ‘We love you, but it’s crazy. Don’t do that again,’ she continued.

Rina is a model and aspiring actress

Rina made her big foray into the modeling world after walking the Giuliano Calza Fall 2021 catwalk during Milan Fashion Week.

From there, she went on to work with brands such as Miu Miu and Versace, and starred in several short films, including Flynn Matthew’s Midpoint.

Eventually, her dancing career led her to find her “preferred” passion of acting. “[Dancing is] where I learned about acting,” she said Numéro Netherlands. “I realized that I prefer it to dancing.”

In 2022, Rina opened for Nylon about the audition process, saying, “There’s something about walking into a room and saying, ‘Hi, nice to meet you,’ and having that energy and that aura and that little repertoire between people,” she said. “You can leave feeling like you have a relationship if you walk in and you’re kind of lively and happy to be there. I’m very happy to work on really fun auditions. Even if I don’t get the job, that’s totally fine.”

Gjin started producing music in 2023

Like his musically inclined sister and father, Gjin has musical talent. In a 2023 Instagram post, Gjin announced that he produced a song by British hip-hop duo A1 x J1 called “Scary”.

Gjin is listed with a production credit alongside J Moon in a screenshot shared on the social media site.

Dua and Rina share a very close relationship, and some of their fondest memories together were made on the trip. Rina admitted Numéro Netherlands that his favorite memory with her sister was her first trip to New York City.

“It was my first time in New York and it was a lot of fun,” she said. “The things I had to do were like things on a list when you first go. We were in Times Square and I had to get a really good picture of myself in Times Square. So it was a situation where we were trying to stand in the middle of the road and stop traffic and get the right picture… The whole trip was so much fun, definitely one of my favorites.”
