Dylan Crews News

LSU’s Dylan Crews was named the winner of the 45th Golden Spikes Award today during a live presentation on ESPN. Established in 1978, the Golden Spikes Award recognizes the nation’s top amateur baseball player based on athleticism, sportsmanship, moral character, and overall dedication to the game.

Crews joins 1989 winner Ben McDonald as the only two LSU players to receive the award in program history. With 10 total winners, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) now has more Golden Spikes award winners than the Pacific-12. The last SEC award winner before Crews was Kevin Kopps (Arkansas) in 2021.

Since his arrival at LSU in 2021, Dylan Crews has been among the best college baseball players in the country, according to USA Baseball Executive Director/CEO Paul Seiler. He is a highly deserving recipient of this award due to his outstanding 2023 season, as well as his selfless philanthropic activities off the field. Dylan received the Golden Spikes Award and we are honored to welcome him into the family and recognize him for all of his accomplishments this season.

Crews, who helped the Tigers reach the College World Series final while near the top of the nation in offensive statistics, was one of the brightest stars in college baseball in 2023.

In addition to dominating the national rankings, Crews also dominated the SEC in numerous offensive statistical categories, winning the conference’s Player of the Year award for the second year in a row. His regular-season stats were just as spectacular in the conference, where he hit .405 with a .545 on-base percentage to lead the conference in both categories.

In SEC play, Crews made a league-high 27 shots, tied for the most in the conference, and collected 45 hits. He also finished in the top ten in the conference in both total bases (76) and slugging percentage (.685).
