Electrical appliances and designer clothes were taken to Marbella and cash was taken from one of the children’s backpacks.
A source said: “Jacqueline and Dan are really shaken up.
“She raised the alarm after seeing a torch and was confronted by two men in balaclavas.
“Both ran away after seeing her. It’s scary to think what could have happened if the children had woken up and seen men in the bedroom.
“Jacqueline and Dan are glad it wasn’t worse.” Spanish police are investigating a raid on a family’s rented villa in a popular resort.
Jacqueline, who plays Lauren Branning in the BBC1 soap, and reality star Dan were in Spain for two weeks with their extended families and daughters, Ella, nine, Mia, five, plus Dan’s 10-year-old son, Teddy.
The family was photographed on the beach playing in the water with their children, and Jaqueline shared photos of their breakup on social media.
The friend added: “The villa has good security and Jacqueline and Dan have CCTV.
“They think it took the burglars about ten minutes to break in. It is possible that the men were in possession for 15 minutes.

“Jacqueline said it was completely silent. It was only when she was awakened by the flash of the torch that they realized something had happened.
“After going through everything they realized the robbers had stolen £20,000 worth of property, including Jacqueline’s engagement ring and some of her handbags.
“They even took cash from one child’s backpack. That’s disgusting.
“Jacqueline and Dan have remained calm and brave for the sake of the children.
“They didn’t tell them what happened.

“The last thing they want is to feel scared.
“They are focusing on the memories they made on vacation as a family before the robbery.
“Jacqueline and Dan spoke to the police.
“They don’t want another family to go through what they have.”
The Essex couple tied the knot in June 2017.
Jacqueline has taken a break from filming EastEnders to enjoy the summer holidays with her two girls and Teddy before they head back to school.
She returned to the BBC1 soap last October after a five-year hiatus.
Her character Lauren makes an explosive comeback to confront Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), who has returned from the dead.
Dan is a former Towie star and was a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother in 2018, finishing third.
His son Teddy is from a previous relationship.
GANGS TARGET CELEBRITIES
JACQUELINE and Dan are the latest stars to be targeted on holiday – with Spanish police claiming a group of ex-soldiers is behind many of the raids.
The Sun told last week how DJ Nick Grimshaw had his villa burgled while he, his mum and guests slept.
The star had hired a station in Ibiza for her 40th birthday and was said to be shocked and upset by the raid.
Earlier this summer, Italian soccer player Cristiano Piccini had his luxury watch stolen by motorcycle robbers in Ibiza.
Argentine tennis star Federico Coria was robbed of valuables including rackets, a laptop and an engagement ring in Barcelona.
In April, I’m A Celeb’s Snoochie Shy was mugged for her purse in Ibiza.
Police arrested six ex-soldiers from Eastern Europe and say they carried out 71 thefts, mostly in Marbella.
They claim the group is trained to access any asset and act quickly and efficiently.
