Joe Wicks, played by Paul Nicholls, made an unannounced cameo in EastEnders as he spoke to his father David via FaceTime.

Fans have already loved the re-introduction of Micheal French’s David Wicks and Patsy Palmer’s Bianca Jackson, and Joe’s return has now put the icing on the cake.

Last week, fans saw David inundated with calls from the mysterious Holly, but her identity was revealed as part of Joe’s twist.

Holly is actually Joe’s daughter.

This is the first time a daughter has been mentioned for the character, and it was revealed that David had recently reconnected with Joe and Holly after a period of absence.

As part of the storyline, David was running away from Walford to go back north and it was quickly revealed that he was supposed to be spending time with Joe and Holly.

Speaking over the phone in tonight’s episode, Joe said: “Listen, this girl is really looking forward to seeing you in person.

“We both are.”

David then added: “It will be nice to spend some time together after all these years.

– See you tomorrow.

It remains to be seen if Joe will return to Albert Square or if his surprise cameo was just a one-off.

Since David left Walford at the end of the episode, their only connection to the Square right now is Bianca who is currently fighting to free Sonia from prison.

Commenting on Joe’s return, one fan said online: “My heart is full. Welcome back Joe, so happy to be in a good place.”

Another added: “Great to see Joe again! Gotta love Paul Nicholls.”

The EastEnders stars who QUIT

MICHELLE Collins has seen her second stint on EastEnders boost her bank balance. Which stars dropped out this year, though?

The Sun exclusively reported how Michelle, 62, was down £20,000 on her company accounts when she agreed to make a shock return from the dead to Albert Square last year.

Her character, Cindy Beale, was presumed dead off-camera in 1998.

But what about the 2024 releases?

Earlier this summer, loyal fans of the soap seem to have noticed Stevie Mitchell “quitting” the long-running series.

It came after Alan Ford had enjoyed just six months on screen.

Bobby Beale, actor Clay Milner Russell also left this year after five years at Walford.

Fans also feared that Martin Fowler’s actor James Bye would “quit out of boredom” due to recent rumours.

In addition, a host of stars have left the BBC soap for Hollywood fame.

One of the most successful stars of the BBC One soap opera is Rob Kazinsky.

He played Stacey Slater’s brother Sean Slater from 2006 to 2009, and starred in the Hollywood blockbusters Pacific Rim and Captain Marvel.

Ben Hardy, who left EastEnders as Bobby Beale almost ten years ago, went on to tear Hollywood apart the following year, when he played the Archangel in X-Men: Apocalypse.

He has since played Roger Taylor in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody and starred in Michael Bay’s Netflix film 6 Underground.

Michelle Ryan played Zoe Slater until 2005.

She played the lead role in the short-lived American series Bionic Woman from 2007 to 2008.

A third then said: “AND JOE WICKS CAMEO WHAT A WEEK.”

EastEnders has made countless comebacks over the past 12 months.

Along with David, Joe and Bianca, others returning include Chrissie Watts, Jake Moon, Cindy, Ian Beale and Lauren Branning.

Ruby Allen, Lee and Nancy Carter are also still set to return with rumors that there could be more.
