Edie Falco 'Couldn't Stop Crying' During The Sopranos Finale Table Read with Her Castmates in 2007

Edie Falco cried while reading the script for The Soprano family series finale.

In a CBS News retrospective on the acclaimed HBO series, the actress who played Carmela Soprano revealed that she was emotional during the reading of the final episode, titled “Made in America.”

“I was out of control. I was embarrassed,” said the four-time Emmy winner, 60, reflecting on a table read with her castmates in 2007.

“I really couldn’t stop crying, it was funny,” she continued. “It was, ‘This thing at this point will not happen again to me, to anyone.’ ”

The infamous “cut-to-black” series finale has fans still debating whether Tony Soprano was killed at the last minute.

When told that the series probably changed many people’s lives, Falco agreed, saying “I think all of ours, in every way.”

The Bupkis the actress also talked about her dynamic with her on-screen husband, the late James Gandolfini, who portrayed Tony Soprano. She called it “a thing of alchemy.”

“We both had Italian families, we had some idea of ​​what that dynamic felt like and we just fell into it with great ease,” said Falco, who never married. “It was, you know, a 10-year marriage. And it was as close to real as I knew.”

Falco portrayed Carmela on The Soprano family from 1999 to 2007. She won three Emmys and two Golden Globes for this role.

Although Falco fondly looks back on his years spent in the Soprano family, Sister Jackie star previously told PEOPLE in March that her children, son Anderson and daughter Macy, have never seen The Soprano family.

“They’ve gotten over so much,” she said. “They never saw him. None of them.”
