Eighties movie legend, 68, unrecognisable 44 years after massive hit movie, quitting Hollywood and diva rumours

A HIT movie star from the eighties looked completely different after stepping out 44 years after her big movie stardom.

The actress, who has since avoided the bright lights of Hollywood, was known for her roles in An Officer and a Gentleman, Terms of Endearment and Shadowlands.

Ohio native Debra Lynn Winger, now 68, previously earned Academy Award nominations for Best Actress as well as a National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actress for Terms of Endearment.

However, her role as Sissy in the 1980s blockbuster Urban Cowboy put her in line for a number of official accolades from the BAFTAs, Golden Globes and film critics organizations.

During her film heyday, she sported thick brown curls, often styled with fringes and loose waves.

She regularly wore minimal make-up, letting her sparkling blue eyes shine.

Earlier this month, she looked unrecognizable as she showed off her natural beauty at the premiere of Drive Away Dolls in New York.

Her signature curls remained, this time shaded with gray, and she slipped on a pair of thick glasses to give a stylish look.

She covered herself with a plaid scarf and a blazer combined with a blue blouse.

Debra decided to take a break from the film industry after numerous accolades and award nominations, instead choosing to work behind the scenes.

The Police Academy star, 74, has barely aged a day in the 40 years since the hit films took in £237m at the box office

She shot the film Forget Paris in 1995, and then was absent from showbiz for six years.

Explaining her absence at the time, Debra was candid, saying: “I’ve wanted out for years. I’m sick of hearing myself say I want to quit.

“It’s like opening an interview with ‘I hate interviews!’

“Well, get out! I stopped reading scripts and didn’t care anymore.

“People were saying ‘We miss you so much.’ But in the last six years, tell me a movie I should have acted in.

“The few I can remember, the actress was so perfect.”

However, she was also at the center of controversy after allegedly refusing to work with pop queen Madonna.

Debra was cast in A League Of Their Own, but reportedly dropped out because she didn’t think the Holiday singer was a serious enough actress.

During the break, she worked as a lecturer at Harvard University and wrote a book.

However, she returned to the screens in the Netflix comedy The Ranch between 2016 and 2020.

We previously told how the legendary Hollywood sex symbol, Jane Seymour, hasn’t aged a day since her role as a Bond girl.

Nineties film beauty Emmanuelle Beart, 60, also looked ageless as she stepped out at a string of film events – 28 years after starring in the hit film with Tom Cruise.

We also recently reported that the iconic Eighties band would be reuniting for a show at Hampton Court Palace.
