Elden Ring: How to Get the Great Jar’s Arsenal Talisman

The Great Jar’s Talisman is a highly valuable talisman to pick up in Elden Ring, increasing the player’s equip load by 19%, allowing them to equip more items to their armor and weapon slots. Equip load is a stat in Elden Ring tied to the player’s endurance level, increasing as the endurance does. When the equip load increases, so does the amount of gear the player can have on them, like armor and weapons. This makes this item almost essential for strength builds that require wielding heavy weapons and heavier armor.

The Great Jar’s talisman is not only helpful on strength builds, but its worth a talisman slot on any build, since having better armor and more absorption are always beneficial. Poise also increases with heavier armor, allowing players to push through certain attacks without being staggered. It also allows players to put more points into other stats, rather than dumping tons of valuable levels into endurance just to increase the equip load.

Observant Elden Ring players may have noticed a gigantic jar sitting outside of a small building off of the northwestern side of Caelid. On the map, the jar sits on the peninsula, only accessible through a seemingly unreachable ravine. To get into that ravine, players must enter Elden Ring‘s underground Siofra River from Mistwood, which is all the way back in eastern Limgrave. After fighting or running through the area, the northeastern end will have an elevator, only accessible when spending a few Stonesword Keys.

Elden Ring: The Best Talisman for Strength Builds

The elevator sits near a site of grace called “Below the Well” and leads upwards into Caelid. The player will exit through a small structure and lead into the ravine, which is patrolled by Elden Ring‘s signature stone golems, one with a halberd, and the other with a bow. Dispatching them is optional, but recommended to ensure a smooth trip to the Great Jar. Once the player reaches the Great Jar, they will have the option to speak, and the Jar will respond with silence. Afterwards, three summon signs will appear in front of him, with the title of Knight of the Great Jar. Defeating each of the three warriors one at a time will allow the player to speak with the Jar once more, and will be rewarded with the Great Jar’s Talisman.

Equipping the talisman will see the equip load increase by 19%, allowing the player to roll faster with more armor and gear equipped. Equip load works in a way that isn’t explicitly discussed in Elden Ring, so there are a few things to keep in mind. Keeping the equip load below 30% allows players to fast roll, between 30% and 70% allows players to use the standard roll, and this is the range that most players will want. After 70% and up to 99%, players will use an extremely slow roll that covers minimal distance and is slow to recover from. Over 100%, players will be over-encumbered, unable to run or roll at all.

Keeping equip load below 70% is ideal for almost every build, and getting it as close as possible will typically be the best choice. Staying right in that sweet spot will maximize damage negation with heavier armor and rolling efficiency. Using the Great Jar’s Talisman will vastly increase the versatility of any build, and is well worth a spot in any Tarnished’s toolkit.
