He was on Jimmy Kimmel Poor people bad joke?
As in past Academy Awards, each film nominated for Best Picture receives an edit during the ceremony. After the clip for Poor people played, host Jimmy Kimmel made a joke that star Emma Stone didn’t like.
“It was all the parts Poor people that we’re allowed to show on TV,” Kimmel joked after the montage played, apparently referring to the uninhibited sex that Stone’s character Bella Baxter engages in during the Oscar-winning film.
Stone, 35, turned to her husband Dave McCary, rolling her eyes as she shook her head slightly. and muttered a few words. Many viewers online thought she said “Oh my God.”

Representatives for Stone did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
“[The sex] is obviously a big part of her experience and her growth, as it is, I think, for most people in life,” Stone told BBC Radio 4 Front row back in January of her character’s journey. “So when the camera kind of shyed away from it, or was like, ‘Okay, well, we’re going to throw all this out because our society works in a particular way’ … it felt like a lack of being honest about who Bella is. ”

During September’s New York Film Festival, director Yorgos Lanthimos explained why he didn’t “run away” from the film’s sexual content.
“It was a very important part of her journey. We felt we shouldn’t shy away from it,” he said. “It would be very disingenuous to tell this story about this character who is so free and so open, and then be discreet about the sexual aspect.”
