Although Shameless aired until 2021, Rossum stepped down from the role of Fiona before season 10.

“The opportunity to play Fiona was a gift,” Rossum wrote on Facebook when she announced her departure. “There are few characters – female or otherwise – so layered and dynamic. She is a mother lioness, fierce, flawed and sexually liberated. She is hurt, vulnerable, but she will never give up.”
