MPs loyal to Suella Braverman are angry that she has been sacked as Home Secretary.

And they are outraged that the new government made a moderate turn.

The Prime Minister will be hoping Ms McVey’s appointment will ease concerns about a shift from the right.

Ms McVey is currently a Member of Parliament and a part-time TV presenter for GB News.

But she is expected to leave her job at the channel to join the cabinet.

A Whitehall insider told the Sun that she would “lead the government’s crackdown on the wake, rationalizing herself as a cabinet minister”.

It comes as David Cameron made a sensational return to politics today as Foreign Secretary.

In a dramatic twist, the 57-year-old former prime minister was knighted by King Charles this morning, enabling him to take on the coveted role.

Mr Cameron replaced James Cleverly, who took over from Suella Braverman as Britain’s new home secretary.

Amid speculation that he will leave the cabinet, Jeremy Hunt will remain as chancellor.

Greg Hands has been moved from the chairmanship of the Conservative Party to the position of economy minister.

He was replaced at CCHQ by 2019er and Red Wall MP Richard Holden.

Therese Coffey left the government after this morning’s meeting with the Prime Minister.

She will be replaced in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs by the demoted Steve Barclay.

And Vicky Atkins will take on the role of Health Minister.

In a statement by the now former Minister of the Environment, who has been a minister since 2014, he said: “Today I wrote to the Prime Minister to resign from the government.

“It was a privilege to serve him and indeed 5 Conservative prime ministers as a minister.

“I look forward to continuing to serve my Suffolk Coastal constituents.”

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Neil O’Brien, the chief architect of the new smoking ban, has resigned from his post.

Chief paymaster general Jeremy Quinn and veteran schools minister Nick Gibb have stepped down from the government.

Amid the rent and mortgage crisis, Rachel Maclean has been sacked as housing secretary, leaving the post open for the 16th time since the Tories took power.

Ms Maclean said: “I have been asked to step down as housing minister.

“I am disappointed and I am looking forward to presenting to the Committee tomorrow the bill on landlord reform, and later the bill on rent and freehold.

“It was a privilege to be in that position and I wish my successor the best.”

She has been replaced by Lee Rowley who will leave his role as local government minister.

A No 10 spokesman said: “This reshuffle will give the Prime Minister a united team to deliver the changes this country needs for the long term.”
