The real Irene Banerjee was assumed to be an accountant, just as viewers of the show know Irene. Just hours before his sentencing, on October 23, 1994, Steve Banerjee committed suicide in prison. Irene Banerjee passed away from breast cancer in February 2001, but unfortunately there is very little information available about her before that time.
