Eva B is a Pakistani rapper who rose to fame in 2022 after starring in the Pakistani music television series “Coke Studio”, where she rapped songs along with Kaifi Khalil (vocalist) and Wahab Ali Bugti (tambura player) “Kana Yaari” ).

Eva Baloch was born on March 11 from Karachi, Pakistan, and spent her childhood in the urban slum area of Lyari, an area known for violence, gangs and drugs. Her zodiac sign is Pisces. She became interested in pursuing a rap career after listening to songs by popular American rapper Eminem. She discovered the songs through a folder on a second-hand computer. In an interview, when talking about her first exposure to Eminem’s songs, she said:

Through my rapping, I hope people hear my story and the stories of Lyari women. I come from a place where there are only a few girls in the workforce and my society doesn’t see rap girls as respectable – I wanted to challenge that. “
When she was a student, she was often bullied because her parents were divorced. As a result, she was expelled from school twice for fighting with bullies. Talking about the same in an interview, she said,
My parents are separated. We had to hear the ridicule about it. I was expelled from two schools, classes five and nine, for fighting with girls who made mean comments about my family. “
After completing her studies, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government Women’s College, Karachi, Pakistan.

Eva B began her journey as a rapper in 2014 after teaching herself the basics through the internet. She started a YouTube channel, but every time she uploaded an impromptu rap song to her channel, her brother’s friends would tease him about his sister being a rapper. As a result, there were frequent quarrels in her family. When talking about her brother during the interview, she said:
When my brother would scold me and hit me, the neighbors would come and listen to me. “
Eva B stopped rapping in 2015 due to a conflict with her brother. Although the rapper no longer raps, her passion for music and writing about the limitations society places on girls has not stopped. In one of her songs she said:
Socha rap chhod dun, kalam tod dun, par kalam mein tou meri khoon ki siyahi hai (I thought I would quit rap and break my pen, but the pen has my blood ink on it). “
In 2019, she returned to the Pakistani rap scene after the music streaming platform “Patari” found her. Despite lacking music and sound equipment, she recorded her first official song “Gully Girls” on her mobile phone and it quickly became a hit. The song is featured by Patari and produced by Pakistani record producer Sunny Khan Durrani and CEO of Patari Zari Faisal.
Inspired by the 2019 Indian musical drama film Gully Boy, Eva B’s song challenges the gender and social norms that limited her dream of becoming a rapper. She collaborated with Pakistani singer Momina Mustehsan on “Gully Girls” at the Lux Style Awards (2019).

She has applied her rap style to the songs “Kehndi” (2020) and “Siyasi” (2021) by Pakistani rapper Mudassar Qureshi. Operating under a pseudonym provided her with the security of an orthodox brother, who wanted her to give up her career. When Eva B was 22, she got a call from the music producer of the Pakistani musical TV series Coke Studio. In order to rehearse the show, she lied to her brother. She said in an interview,
If I had to go record, I would have to lie to my brother. I would say I was going to college… I lied at home and said I was going to a friend’s wedding. I would ask everyone to schedule me before dark so I can more easily excuse myself at home. “
In Coke Studio Season 14, Eva B collaborated as a rapper with Pakistani singer Kaifi Khalil and Tambura player Wahab Ali Bugti on the song “Kana Yaari”. “Kana Yaari” received 3.2 million views on the third day after its release, making Eva B a YouTube star.

- In an interview, Eva B shared an incident that happened when she was a teenager when she went to a local office to pay a family bill. To pay the bill, she put her hand on the counter and the man on the other end grabbed her hand. Although she screamed for everyone’s attention to the man’s advances, no one spoke for her. Witnessing such incidents in which women were suppressed and discriminated against, she felt a surge of anger within her, which she turned into words and expressed through rap.
