Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s feud was as heated as any plot in the film Fast and furious franchise.

Since 2016, countless reports of behind-the-scenes drama between Diesel and Johnson have followed the actors even after filming in 2017. The fate of the furious – the starting point of their long-standing feud.

During the filming of the eighth part of the cult series, it was said that the two men clashed several times. However, from the summer of 2023 Furious actors have seemingly settled their differences, and the WWE star has announced his official return to the franchise.

“Last summer, Vin and I put the past behind us,” Johnson posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) June 1, 2023 “We will lead with brotherhood and determination — and always take care of the franchise, characters and FANS we love.”

August 8, 2016: Dwayne Johnson Calls Out Unnamed Co-stars, Hints at Vin Diesel Riff

On August 8, 2016, Johnson shared a lengthy, now-deleted Instagram post in which he praised his girlfriends and The fate of the furious crew, but invited some of his male colleagues (though not by name).

“There is no other franchise that makes my blood boil more than this one,” Johnson wrote. “My female co-stars are always amazing and I love them. My male co-stars are a different story. Some act like stand-up men and real professionals, while others don’t.”

He added: “Those who aren’t are too chickens— to do anything about it. Sweets a—-. When you watch this movie next April and you don’t think I’m in one of these scenes and my blood is boiled — you’re right.”

According to TMZ, after sharing their post, Johnson and Diesel reportedly met up in an attempt to patch things up privately — though it was unclear at the time if the two had reconciled.

August 2016: Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel feud ‘has been months in the making’

Source close to production The fate of the furious told PEOPLE that the feud between Johnson and Diesel had been “building up for months” before Johnson’s call out on Instagram.

“Vin has been having issues with The Rock because The Rock is always late for production,” the insider explained. – Sometimes he doesn’t appear at all and delays the production.

April 7, 2017: Vin Diesel deals with a rumored feud with Dwayne Johnson

In April 2017, Diesel cleared up the news about his run-ins with Johnson – and appeared to quell a rumored feud with his costar – in an interview with USA Today. “I don’t think the world really realizes how close we are, in a weird way,” he told the news outlet.

“I think some things may be exaggerated. I don’t think that was his intention,” Diesel said. “I know he appreciates how hard I work on this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”

Diesel added that the franchise’s protection extends to his relationship with Johnson.

“I’m protecting the franchise. I’m protecting everybody, including Dwayne. I’ve protected Dwayne more than he’ll ever know. And it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have to know. But he appreciates it. He knows it,” he said. . “Dwayne has only one Vin in his life. Dwayne Johnson has only one older brother in this movie world, and that’s me.”

June 2021: Vin Diesel admits he showed Dwayne Johnson ‘tough love’

In an interview with S. in June 2021 Men’s healthDiesel admitted that he used “tough love” on set when it came to Johnson’s portrayal of him Fast and furious character, federal agent Luke Hobbs.

“It was difficult to embody that character, the character of Hobbs,” Diesel told the magazine. “My approach at the time was tough love to help get that performance where it needed to be.”

He added: “I could give a lot of tough love. Not Felliniesque, but I would do whatever I had to do to get performances in anything I produced.”

July 21, 2021: Dwayne Johnson leaves Fast and furious franchise

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter in July 2021, Johnson revealed that he would not be returning to the main franchise and that his appearance in The fate of the furious would be his last.

“I wished them well,” he said THR. “I wish them the best Quick 9. And I wish them the best of luck in the future Quick 10 and Quick 11 and the rest Fast and furious the films they make will be without me.”

October 12, 2021: Dwayne Johnson Responds to Vin Diesel’s ‘Tough Love’ Comment

Talking to Vanity Fair for the magazine’s November 2021 cover, Johnson addressed Diesel’s “tough love” comments, telling the publication, “Part of me feels like there’s no way I could dignify any of that noise with a response.”

“I visited the neighborhood many times. Unlike [Diesel]I didn’t come from the world of theater,” he added. “And, you know, I came differently and I was brought up differently.”

Johnson continued, “I come from a completely different culture and environment. And I go into every project giving it my all. And if I feel like there are things that need to be sorted out and dealt with and taken care of, then I do it. And I’m just like that laughed, like everyone else, and I’m sure Fellini is laughing too.

Nov 7, 2021: Vin Diesel begs Dwayne Johnson to return to Fast and furious franchise

November 7, 2021 Diesel shared a post on Instagram begging Johnson to rejoin his Fast and furious actors for the tenth film of the series.

“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come,” Diesel wrote. “The world is waiting for the final Quickly 10. As you know, my kids call you Uncle Dwayne in my house. There isn’t a holiday that goes by without them sending you good wishes… but the time has come.”

December 2021: Dwayne Johnson calls out Vin Diesel’s “manipulation”

In an interview with CNN published in December 2021, Johnson addressed an Instagram post Diesel had made a month earlier, in which he publicly asked Johnson to return to the hit film series.

“I was very surprised by Vin’s recent announcement,” Johnson told CNN. “Last June, when Vin and I actually connected not through social media, I told him directly — and privately — that I wasn’t coming back to the franchise.”

“I was firm but warm in my words and said that I would always support the cast and always root for the success of the franchise, but that there was no way I was going back,” he said. “I also spoke privately with my partners at Universal, all of whom were very supportive because they understood the issue.”

Johnson also called the plea “an example” of Diesel’s “manipulation.”

“I didn’t like that he mentioned his children in the post, and I didn’t like the death of Paul Walker. Leave them out,” he said. “We talked a few months ago about this and came to a clear understanding. My goal all along was to end my incredible journey with this amazing Fast and furious franchise with gratitude and grace.”

Johnson concluded: “It’s unfortunate that this public dialogue has muddied the waters. Regardless, I’m confident in Quickly universe and its ability to consistently deliver to audiences, and I sincerely wish my former colleagues and crew members the best of luck and success in their next chapter.”

In May 2023. Fast and furious fans got the surprise of their lives when Johnson appeared in a cameo after the 2023 exit credits. Quick X. For many, this gesture seemed to signal that the feud between Johnson and Diesel had finally come to an end.

Reportedly, it was director Louis Leterrier who facilitated the “peace agreement” between the two stars.

“We kind of looked at each other across the room and winked a few months ago, saying, ‘We should work together.’ And then I had this idea and I presented it to the producers and the studio,” said Leterrier The Hollywood Reporter.

He continued, “And then we turned to Dwayne and his team and said, ‘Just come see the movie. You have to love the film first.’ So, he came to see the movie and he really liked it, and then we started talking. It was very smooth.”

June 1, 2023: Dwayne Johnson officially returns to Fast and furious franchise, announces a Luke Hobbs spinoff

On June 1, 2023 Black Adam the star confirmed his return to Fast and furious franchise. “Yes, it’s true. Hobbs is back,” Johnson said in an Instagram video.

Leaving his conflicts with Diesel in the past, he said: “Despite our differences, me and Vin, we’ve been like brothers for years, and despite our differences, when you lead with – number one, determination – but also you think about the future and the plans that are much bigger than ourselves.”

“Those bigger plans are construction,” Johnson added. “They are the North Star.”

With his revenge as Luke Hobbs, Diversity reported that Johnson’s character will get his own standalone film, which he will co-produce alongside franchise screenwriter Chris Morgan. The spinoff will connect events from Quick X and in 2025 Fast X: Part II12th film of the franchise.
