Ewan McGregor's 5 Kids: All About His 4 Daughters and 1 Son

Ewan McGregor is the father of five children.

The Star Wars the actor married his first wife, French designer Eve Mavrakis, in the summer of 1995. Seven months later, the couple had their first child, Clara. In 2001, their daughter Esther was born. After her birth, the couple adopted two more daughters, Jamyan and Anouk.

“They are everything to me,” he said The Hollywood Reporter in April 2021 to his four daughters.

Ewan and Eve separated in May 2017 after 22 years of marriage. However, they didn’t announce the split until October of that year when photos of Ewan kissing his Fargo costar, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, appeared. After that, Ewan retired from work for almost 10 months to spend time with his children.

He later told GQ, the divorce, which was finalized in 2020, was like “a bomb that went off in everyone’s life — my children’s lives.”

The following year, Ewan welcomed his fifth child and first son, Laurie, with Winstead. The couple married in a small ceremony in April 2022.

Ewan received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in September 2024. Winstead and the actor’s four children — Clara, Jamyan, Anouk and Laurie — were in attendance at the special event.

Clara McGregor, 28

Ewan’s eldest child, Clara McGregor, was born in England on February 4, 1996. Although she initially “turned [her] back to acting” to build her own individual career, Clara eventually realized she wanted to be an actress after spending time in front of the camera as a model.

After signing with Wilhelmina Models in 2017 and graduating from New York University the following year, Clara posed for Playboy and teamed up with Bluebell for their Christmas underwear collection.

During the conversation with the British brand, she opened up about what the partnership with Bluebell means to her. “I’m bisexual myself, so I always want to work with them because they represented the LGBT+ community and are open to all walks of life and different people,” she said.

Earlier that year, Clara made headlines when she publicly commented on her father’s then-girlfriend, Winstead, calling her “trash” in an Instagram post. She later apologized for the remark in an interview with the UK edition The Times. “It was not my best moment,” she told the newspaper.

Speaking about her dad, she said: “I love him and I always will,” before adding: “We’re incredibly close and even though I strongly disagree with how he’s gone, I’ll always love him and I hope that he is happy, you know?”

On the screen, Clara starred alongside her father in a crime thriller Birthday cakewhich she also co-produced. After Clara starred in American Horror Story: NYCthe couple reunited for a film drama You sing loud, I sing louder, although the title has now been changed to Bleeding Love.

The film stars Clara and Ewan as an estranged father and daughter who reunite on a road trip that forces them to confront the issues that destroyed their relationship. In January 2024, PEOPLE shared an exclusive sneak peek at the first trailer for the film, which will be in theaters and on demand on February 16.

Clara told PEOPLE that filming the movie with her dad was an “amazing experience.”

“It’s rare that you get to spend so much time with your parents as an adult, so it was really special. I’ve always admired my dad as an actor and acting with him showed me how good he is at what he does,” she said.

Esther McGregor, 22

Ewan and Eve welcomed their second daughter, Esther-Rose McGregor, on 7 November 2001. She has several artistic and creative interests, including music and permanent art.

Like her older sister, Esther did a lot of modeling. In August 2018, she and Clara were featured in a campaign for Fendi. Esther is currently signed with the modeling agency Souls&Faces Cast.

“They’re beautiful, aren’t they?” Ewan said The New York Times in May 2021 about his daughters in the ad. “I was able to visit them on a shoot they were both doing together in New York… I actually went out and bought them sandwiches. There was no catering.”

In addition to modeling, Esther is part of the two-piece band French Thyme, for which she sings in English and French. The duo released their debut EP in August 2020. Esther is also a tattoo artist with her own business in New York. While attending NYU, she spoke for the school newspaper, News in Washington Squarein October 2021 and explained why she likes tattooing.

“I want to improve the way people see themselves and make people feel more comfortable in their own skin,” Esther explained. “In general, I think my art is a reflection of myself.”

She also starred alongside her father, making a cameo in the Disney+ series Obi–Wan Kenobi. While appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Ewan talked about her being cast as Tethe Grig.

“I’m sure everyone thinks she got the job because of me, but she didn’t. She auditioned for the part,” he told James Corden.

Calling her “brilliant,” he added, “You don’t really know with your kids until that moment when I acted with her and it was really normal and natural.”

Jamyan McGregor, 23

In April 2006, Ewan and Eve adopted their daughter Jamyan McGregor from Mongolia when she was 4 years old. Jamyan was born in June 2001.

While filming a TV show in Mongolia in 2004, Ewan visited a children’s shelter and met Jamyan. He talked about her adoption in his 2020 Apple TV+ docuseries. Long way up.

“[I] left that day, but I couldn’t stop thinking about that little girl,” he said. “It took almost two years, but we finally adopted Jamyan.”

The Scottish actor added that it was a “big moment” for him that “changed everything”.

According to Jamyana’s Instagram bio, she graduated from California boarding school Besant Hill School of Happy Valley in 2020. She is currently studying criminal justice at Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut, and is scheduled to graduate in 2024.

On her Facebook, she describes herself as a “women’s rights activist, swimmer, international traveler, horse rider.” In June 2023, Jamyan shared that she got her first tattoo, “M for McGregor. McGregor Family Strong,” on her left arm.

In 2021, Esther posted a heartfelt tribute to her on Instagram. “Happy birthday Jams ❤️ I’m so thankful to have a best friend and sister to go through every step of life with,” she captioned photos of them posing together. “You are a star. The funniest soul I know, I love you ❤️.”

Anouk McGregor, 13

Ewan’s youngest daughter, Anouk McGregor, was born in February 2011. Not much is known about her, but she is believed to have been adopted by Ewan and Eve when she was just 3 or 4 months old.

During the interview with The New York Times in 2021, Ewan showed the reporter the Obi-Wan doll from Anouk’s room, saying it had “never been played with”.

Speaking about his children, he said: “There is no debate about that Star Wars. I don’t think they ever watched them. They’re not really interested.”

In September 2021, Ewan won an Emmy for his lead role in Halston. After thanking his family in his speech, he opened up to reporters from the press room about how he supports them.

“I have four daughters – the importance of women and women’s rights and equality for women and equal pay – it’s so great to be in a room where people are talking about that,” Ewan said. – I always think of my girls.

Laurie McGregor, 3

On June 25, 2021, Ewan and Winstead had a son named Laurie McGregor.

The couple did not announce the pregnancy to the public. Instead, Ewan’s eldest daughter, Clara, shared the news of their baby boy on Instagram, writing: “Welcome to the world little brother ❤️ congratulations to my dad and Mary – this is the greatest gift.”

Soon after, Esther posted a photo of herself holding the newborn on Instagram with the caption: “Met my little brother who looks like a pirate. Highly recommend! Welcome to the family little Laurie 🥰.”

Ewan also mentioned his son in his speech at the 2021 Emmy Awards. “Mary, I love you so much. I’m going to take this home and show it to our new boy, Laurie,” the actor said. “And to my beautiful girls, who I know are watching, Clara, Esther, Jamyan and Anouk, hello to you too. Thank you all so much!”
