Fearne Cotton reveals she’s found two tumours on her jawline & is having surgery – as she thanks Davina for support

FEARNE Cotton has revealed she is undergoing imminent surgery after two tumors were found on her jaw.

The TV presenter said she had been told the “growing” masses were benign – and thanked fellow entertainer Davina McCall for her support.

Fearne said Davina, who herself had brain tumor surgery last month, had been a huge source of support following the shocking news.

In a video posted on the star’s social media, Fearne showed where the tumors were – and said she would be taking a break from social media after the operation.

In the caption, she wrote: “Hey guys, I’ll be out for a while due to surgery.

“Recently I felt a lump under my ear on my jaw, but this year I noticed it growing.

“It turned out to be a benign tumor and another small one above it on the salivary gland.

“I feel positive about everything and will take the opportunity to rest and slow down.”

In a heartfelt plea to her followers, she urged people to take any worrisome growths to their doctor for a check-up, saying: “If you feel a lump or a lump or feel like something is off, always get checked out.

“I’m so glad I did because the longer you leave these things the more complicated things get.”

Turning her attention to her friend Davina, she added: “Obviously it’s so weird that Davina told me about her tumor just a few months ago and then weeks later I called her because she discovered mine.

“I’m not only lucky that she’s a damn good friend, but also a beacon of light and positivity when it comes to these things.

“Sending you lots of love and see you soon.”

In the video, Fearne also shared that she will continue with her podcast, The Happy Place – with many episodes already recorded.

She said: “So I’m going to have that operation and then I’m going to rest to get better before Christmas. I’m not very good at resting so I’m wondering how it’s going to go but I feel good about it. I feel fine and good.

“I’ll be catching up on a lot of TV while I’m out on the other side. The podcast will continue as normal. I’ll be doing all the regular stuff, I’ve got a lot of good episodes lined up that’ll be up and see you soon.”

Davina, known as the former host of Big Brother and The Masked Singer, is still recovering from surgery for a “very rare” colloid cyst – which is believed to affect only three in a million people.

In an update last week, the 57-year-old said she was feeling “much better” after having the 14mm growth removed in a grueling six-hour operation.

She previously said she struggled with short-term memory loss – but now says she’s seeing a big improvement.

Symptoms of a benign brain tumor

A benign brain tumor is a mass of cells that grow relatively slowly in the brain.

Benign means that it is not cancerous.

Non-cancerous brain tumors tend to stay in one place and do not spread.

Some slow-growing tumors may not cause any symptoms at first.

When symptoms occur, it is because the tumor is putting pressure on the brain and preventing a certain part of the brain from working properly.

As the tumor grows and increases pressure in the skull, you may experience:

  1. New, persistent headaches that are sometimes worse in the morning or when bending or coughing
  2. I feel sick all the time
  3. Sleepiness
  4. Vision problems, such as blurred or double vision, loss of part of the field of vision, and temporary vision loss
  5. Epileptic seizures that can affect the whole body or you can only have a twitch in one area

See your GP if you develop any of these symptoms.

They will examine you and ask about your symptoms.

If they suspect you may have a tumor or are unsure what is causing your symptoms, they may refer you to a brain and nerve specialist for further testing.
