Fears Putin hit squad AT LARGE in Spain after ‘calling card’ at murder scene of Russian defector ‘who made fatal error’

A RUSSIAN hit-and-run team is feared to be on the loose among British holidaymakers following the sinister shooting death of a Ukrainian defector in Spain.

Russian pilot Maxim Kuzminov, 28, who defected to Ukraine in his Mi8 helicopter, was found riddled with bullets in a parking garage just 10 miles from Benidorm.

Police sources have revealed that the ammunition used to kill him was distinctly Russian – a move believed to have served as a chilling “calling card”.

It is feared that Kuzminov, who was living under a new identity, may have been killed by Putin’s emergency squad permanently stationed in the Costa Blanca.

The report claims the same sinister secret service and mafia-linked cells are likely behind the murder of a Russian family in Spain – one of the high-profile mysterious deaths of Putin-linked war tycoons.

Captain Maxim Kuzminov, 28, was killed in Spain on February 13, months after Moscow declared him a traitor.

His body was found in a garage in the coastal town of Villajoyosa in Alicante.

Spanish detectives said they were treating the killing as a “settlement” as the victim was shot six times and then run over by the vehicle used by the killers, EFE reported.

He is believed to have made the fatal mistake of giving away his location after inviting his ex-girlfriend to visit him in Alicante.

The call could have been intercepted by Russian secret services, according to Spanish media.

Kuzminov flew his Mi-8 helicopter over the front line to defect to Ukraine in August, after which members of the Russian secret service publicly threatened to kill him.

The pilot was said to have been promised a £400,000 reward for surrendering to Ukraine and handing over the helicopter.

How Russia silenced Putin’s opponents

He is believed to have used his new wealth to buy property from a real estate agency with Russian connections.

Connections have now been established between Kuzminov’s murder and the 2022 case of multi-millionaire Sergei Protosenja.

The oligarch (55) was found hanged after allegedly killing his wife Natalija (53) and their teenage daughter Maria with an ax while they were sleeping in their luxury villa on the Costa Brava.

Protosenya was the former deputy chairman of Novotek, a company closely linked to the Kremlin.

The independent Telegram channel Volya – which follows both sides in the war – claims that both Russian secret services and long-standing mafia clans are active in Spain.

The report states: “The Russians have been living in Alicante, Altea, Benidorm and neighboring small towns for two years, ensuring the security of cargo and ships, the security of cash used for settlements and escorting ‘export-import’ specialists coming from the Russian Federation, from some of which wear FSB straps, and some [GRU military intelligence].

“Among these people there are… professional killers or saboteurs.

“They killed Novatek’s former top manager Sergej Protosenya in the spring of 2022 in Lloret de Mar. [a Catalan resort town].

“The killing of Protoseny, who was connected to pre-war schemes to extract funds from the Russian Federation for the benefit of the security forces of Putin’s inner circle… was connected to the purge of cadres who knew a lot about the extraction of money in the EU and its legalization there.

“They tried to cover up that death as an alleged domestic murder.”

VENGEANCE VOW

The report claimed it was “rigged” to make it appear that Protosenya killed his family and then took his own life.

The Volya report adds: “But they did not mask with Kuzminov.

“They promised to punish him – they did.”

They were also capable of hiring Spanish hitmen to do their dirty work, the report claimed.

It warned: “While European politicians express concern over Navalny’s murder, Russian assassins and intelligence agencies are active and, unfortunately, successful across Europe and other parts of the world.”

The Protoseny case is one of dozens of mysterious Russian deaths since the start of the war, many involving tycoons, some of whom are closely linked to the Kremlin and its favored business empires.

Previously, the Telegram channel Mozhem Obyasnit said that Protosenya – who had a fortune of $440 million – was connected to “Putin’s inner circle”.

Anonymous Spetsnaz special forces officers from Russia’s GRU military intelligence service were shown on Moscow state television last year clearly showing that an “order” had been issued to liquidate Kuzminov.

The Vesti nedeli program of the state channel Rossiya 1 told viewers in a chilling broadcast: “Reg [to kill Captain Kuzminov] received, its execution is a matter of time.”

One Spetsnaz officer said: “We will find the man and punish him for betraying his brothers to the fullest extent of our country’s laws.”
