The photo – said to be his last – shows the 31-year-old returning to the CasaSur hotel in the Palermo district on Wednesday.

The picture, shared by local America TV, shows the singer leaning against a wall in the same outfit he was seen wearing earlier.

The handlers said that was the last time he was seen alive just moments before he reached his hotel room.

Emergency services chief Alberto Crescenti said the singer died instantly from multiple injuries, including a fractured skull.

He said: “The alarm was raised at 17:04 local time saying that a person was lying in the inner terrace of Casa Sur.

“Our role was to get there quickly, provide medical assistance and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life.

“Based on what the team saw, there was clearly a fractured skull and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death.”

A chilling 911 call revealed the singer was “acting strangely” before his death, with witnesses claiming he had to be carried back to his room.

The hotel’s front desk manager made two frantic calls to 911 and is heard saying: “We have a guest who is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come.

“They must be in the room that has a balcony. And well, we’re a little worried that he’s going to do something, that he’s going to risk his life.”

Police in Argentina said they were called to the hotel on Wednesday after staff reported an “aggressive man who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol”.

Witnesses at the hotel reported that Liam smashed his laptop and even had to carry it back to the room,

Police found Liam dead in the inner courtyard of the hotel at around 5pm local time (9pm UK time) when they arrived.

His family broke their silence with a moving tribute to Liam, saying: “We are heartbroken. Liam will live on in our hearts forever and we will remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.

“We are supporting each other as best we can as a family and are asking for privacy and space during this awful time.”

Heartbroken fans gathered outside the hotel for a candlelight vigil, with many leaving flowers and handwritten messages attached to the tree.

The bouquet of white carnations was decorated with a heart-shaped decoration that read: “Te Amo’ – “I love you” in Spanish.

The singer was in Buenos Aires with his girlfriend Kate to watch the performance of his colleague Niall Horan.

The couple shared photos of themselves posing in front of a mirror on Snapchat before Liam’s death.

The model also snapped the One Direction star as they rode horses together in the countryside before her departure.

Liam posted earlier in the day talking about riding horses, playing polo and looking forward to coming home to see his dog.

He wrote: “It’s a beautiful day here in Argentina.”

Liam went from being the ‘father’ of 1D to becoming a professional solo star… but demons took over his life

LIAM was warm, slightly goofy and the dad – figuratively, not literally – of One Direction, always in control and giving the people what they wanted.

He was the spokesperson of the group, speaking while others were fooling around or receding into the background.

I’ve interviewed him many times over the years, most notably in December 2014 when I was a new journalist and he was still one fifth of the world’s most famous boy band.

That night at the BBC Music Awards in West London, they huddled on the sofa and Liam spoke animatedly while his bandmate Zayn Malik barely said a word.

He was friendly and the most professional of the group because he knew his role was to hold things together.

You could tell he was eager to please, even then.

But I would hear whispers behind the scenes that all was not well.

He abused alcohol and his love life was a roller coaster.

Things have come to a head in One Direction’s final year and those around him have made it clear that it’s a relief to finally have some free time to be a normal guy in his early twenties – after years of pinballing around the world. globe in a haze of screaming fans.

It was shocking to me that at the age of 22, he had been in the industry for years, while I, only a year older, was just starting my career.

I still felt like a child, but he was one of the most talked about people in the world.

Tributes poured in for the singer, with fans flocking to the hotel to pay their respects.

Harry Styles’ mum shared a heartbreaking tribute on Instagram and wrote in the caption: “Just a boy…”.

Liam’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry was also “in shock” after the tragic news.

Just two days before Liam’s tragic fall, Maya commented on the podcast claiming the star “predicted his early death”.

He is survived by his son Bear (7), whom he shares with his ex Cheryl, his parents Geoff and Karen Payne and his two older sisters Ruth and Nicola.

Back in August, the 31-year-old singer shared a rare glimpse into his private life by posting a video in which his son Bear said he was his “mini-me.”

911 Operator: “How long has he been there? Is it an extended stay hotel?”

Hotel manager: “(The guest) has been there for the last three days.”
