Fla. Mom Found Dead in Daytona Beach Apartment Fire Was Reportedly Stabbed 100 Times

Den’Jah Moore, the Florida mom found stabbed to death in an apartment fire, was reportedly stabbed 100 times, FOX35, WSVN, WESH and Click Orlando are reporting.

Moore, who was pronounced dead at the scene on Nov. 21, suffered approximately 100 stab wounds and severe burns, according to a new arrest affidavit, FOX35 reports.

In addition, the affidavit states that Moore’s apartment was completely engulfed in flames, with black smoke pouring out of the windows and doors.

The kitchen stove’s four burners were turned on with a large amount of paper and a box sitting on the stove top, according to the affidavit, according to WESH. An investigator with the Florida Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire was criminal in nature and an intentional act with two pallets, reports WSVN.

On Nov. 21, police and firefighters were called to an apartment at 1200 Belville Road in Daytona Beach and found a 30-year-old mother and her three children inside, FOX35 reports.

Her three children — a 10-month-old boy, a 4-year-old and a 5-year-old — were taken to a hospital where the newborn later died, according to FOX35. The two older children remain in critical condition at the hospital, according to WESH.

On November 22, suspect Charles Ivy (34) was charged. He faces two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and arson, FOX35 reported.

According to FOX35, the affidavit states that Ivy was taken to the Ormond Beach Police Department where he admitted to detectives that he went to Moore’s apartment on Nov. 21 at 11 p.m. Authorities believe the fire started between 11:32 and 11:42 p.m.

According to the affidavit, Ivy then told police he stayed at the victim’s apartment until 11:35 p.m. The report states that he then remained in the parking lot for an additional 30 minutes, which is why he was allegedly present at the time of the murders and arson, Click Orlando reports.

On the day of Ivy’s arrest, Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young said during a news conference that the fatal incident was the “most heinous and horrific crime” he had “experienced during [his] entire career,” WESH reported.

During the press conference, Young said he believes Ivy is the father of at least two children, FOX35 reports. “This is definitely domestic in nature,” Young said of the case.
