Former LSU Wide Receiver Kyren Lacy Wanted for Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash That Killed 78-Year-Old Man

Kyren Lacy, a former LSU player and potential 2025 NFL draft pick, is facing felony charges stemming from a Dec. 17 car crash that killed a former Marine.

According to ESPN and WAFB, Louisiana State Police have issued a warrant for the former Tigers player, 24, in connection with a Dec. 17 car crash that killed a 78-year-old man, identified as Herman Hall of Thibodaux, La.

Lacy is accused of causing the accident and then fleeing the scene without rendering aid or calling authorities, according to ESPN, and is charged with criminally negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless driving.

Police said Lacy was allegedly driving a 2023 Dodge Charger around 10 a.m. on Dec. 17 when he “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the center line and entering the northbound lane while in a marked no-passing zone, ” per WAFB.

The football player allegedly “illegally passed other vehicles” on Louisiana Highway 20 when a northbound pickup truck “suddenly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a collision” with Lacy’s Dodge Charger, Louisiana State Police said in a news release.

According to a police statement to ESPN, a 2017 Kia Cadenza was behind the pickup truck. The driver of that vehicle reportedly “swerved to the left to avoid an oncoming Dodge Charger” driven by Lacy when he “crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.”

Hall was a passenger in a Kia Sorento traveling southbound, according to WAFB. The 78-year-old former Marine later died from injuries sustained during the crash.

After the crash, Lacy allegedly drove off, fleeing the scene “without stopping to render aid, call 911 or report his involvement in the crash,” police said.

“LSU has truly made a huge impact on my life on and off the court over the last 3 years,” Lacy wrote in the post.

“There aren’t many people who can fulfill a dream like this. I’m forever grateful for that,” he continued, thanking his coaches, support staff and coaches for “helping me grow as a football player, but most importantly as a person.”
