Future of The Repair Shop & Jay Blades’ other shows revealed after host was charged with coercive behaviour towards wife

TV channels have pulled shows featuring presenter Jay Blades after he was accused of coercive behavior towards his wife.

The Beeb has axed Blades from this year’s Christmas special about the renovation of The Repair Shop.

The creators, Ricochet, are reportedly considering his permanent replacement and are already looking at furniture restorer Will Kirk and handyman Dominic Chine from the show.

Channel 5 also scrapped a documentary series the Blades were making called A Country House Through Time.

And Channel 4 has confirmed it will not be making a sequel to his recent travelogue with Dame Judi Dench, The Odd Couple.

A TV insider said: “Everything is up in the air after the Blades were charged but TV bosses didn’t want to be seen to be taking it slow.

“Everything is on hold until the court proceedings are over, and alternative plans are being considered.

“But The Repair Shop is likely to continue because it’s hugely popular and it feels like the series is bigger than any one individual.”

Blades, 54, who represented The Repair Shop for seven years, also deleted all his social media accounts after his court appearance.

On Saturday we told how he ended up in court because the BBC decided not to show new shows in which he appears.

He faced a charge of controlling and coercive behavior against his estranged wife at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court last Friday.

On May 2, Lisa Zbozen posted a message on Instagram saying that the couple’s 18-month marriage had ended.

West Mercia Police launched an investigation a day later.

Blades has been released on bail and is due to appear in court in Worcester on October 11.

His spokeswoman declined to comment.
