On Friday, November 8, the actor, who played the Mountain on Game of Thronesand his wife shared a joint post on Instagram as they looked back on one year since the death of their baby girl Grace, who they lost at 21 weeks.
“One year. 365 days have passed since the day you were born. 366 days have passed since we learned of your death in my womb. One year, 365 days, without you here, with us,” the couple wrote in a lengthy caption on Instagram.
“You didn’t get to feel the comfort of my arms or breasts. You didn’t get to look up and see my face or your dad’s face. We didn’t get to see your first smile, your first tooth, your first giggle. We didn’t get to clap and cheer when you first stood up or stood up so many times that we will miss him all our lives.”

They went on to say that their daughter’s death was something they never thought would happen, but that publishing and talking about it raises awareness of how common miscarriages are.
“At the end of this life we all die, some die earlier than others, some die before they can take their first breath,” they wrote. “For many of us, we must experience this death and sorrow firsthand, many, many years before our time comes. Death is the only certain thing, but something many fear.”
