Hulme, 33, insisted Neville told him he would never play for the club again.

He told the I Had Trials Once podcast: “[I told Neville]»If you tell me there is a small chance, then I will stay.

“And he said: ‘There’s no way. You’re not going to play for us anymore.’

“I had a £60,000 contract so I got it right and I said ‘OK, let’s take the f*cking £40,000 off the f*ck’.

“So I walked in and walked out with £8,000. That’s all they offered me.”

Hulme further claimed that Neville and the club explained that they knew his salary and would be willing to pay him to “sit in the stands”.

He continued: “So I said, ‘No, I want more,’ and he said, ‘We know what you’re up to,’ because I signed the contract.

“They were saying ‘we know what you’re up to. Do you think we’re crazy to pay someone £450 a week to sit in the stands?’

“So that was their date. But at 26, I was coming into my prime and I didn’t want to do that.”

“He’s stuffed it,” screams Neville as Carragher gives an updated title prediction

Full transcript of the conversation

Here’s the full transcript of Jordan Hulme’s claims about his departure from Salford City…

Jordan Hulme: “So I called Gary Neville to say ‘don’t. If you tell me I can stay and fight for my place, I’ll train every day. I don’t mind if I’m not in the squad for the first little bit, but if you tell me there’s small chance, then I will stay’.

“He was like ‘no way. You’re not going to play for us anymore.’

Host Gareth Seddon: “Did he? Did he tell you that?”

JH: “Pretty much yes.”

Mike Phenix: “Did you get paid?”

JH: “Yes I did, what did I have? A £60,000 contract.

“And I’m like, let’s take £40k from the f*****. So I went in and came out with £8k.”

GS: “Why?”

JH: “That’s all he offered me. So I said I don’t want any more.”

MP: “You should have stood your ground there.”

JH: “No, because he said, because I signed the contract. They said ‘We know what you’re up to. Do you think we’re crazy to pay someone £450 a week stands. That’s fine, you can sit there.’

“So that was their date.”

Hulme then joked that after leaving Salford he went on a trip to Ibiza.

SunSport have seen the video and can confirm Hulme was talking about Neville.

Neville has also been approached for comment.

The Man Utd legend has since claimed on social media that the conversation “didn’t happen at all but sounds great”.

Former Salford joint managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley admitted they had spoken to Hulme.

Johnson wrote on X: “No, me and Bernard Morley sat down with Jordan, not Gary. Although, I can also confirm we were sacked by Gary Neville, ruthless, horrible bastard!”

Morely insisted that Hulme had “messed it up” when he told the story.

He added: “Gary, if Jordan had said it was raining outside, I would have gone to check.

“No matter how good a guy and football player he is, I think he’s messed with his wires with this.”

Neville joined forces with former Manchester United teammates Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Phil Neville to buy a stake in Salford back in 2014.

Since then, they have helped the club climb up the football pyramid and into League Two.

Neville has recently, however, stepped back from his operational role due to his media commitments elsewhere.

The eight-time Premier League winner works as a pundit and co-commentator for Sky Sports in addition to his role with Salford.
