Gaurav Bhatia

Gaurav Bhatia is an Indian lawyer in the Supreme Court of India and the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party. On July 13, 2022, he accused former Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari of inviting a Pakistani representative to India during his tenure in the UPA government in India, who leaked some Indian secrets to the Pakistani spy agency ISI information, and he made headlines for it.

Profession

The Uttar Pradesh government appointed Gaurav Bhatia as the Additional Advocate General (AGG) of the state in 2012. Thereafter, he was appointed as the national spokesperson and national chairman of the legal wing of the Samajwadi Party. In 2016, he was dismissed from the AGG post by the state government. From 2015 to 2017, he served as Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association of India. Thereafter, he served as Advocate of Record in the Supreme Court of India and was later designated as Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court. On February 5, 2017, he resigned from the Socialist Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on April 2, 2017 as the party’s national spokesperson. In a media talk, he spoke about the reasons for leaving the Samajwadi Party and said that the interests of the BJP and the legal fraternity in Uttar Pradesh were not protected under the Samajwadi Party’s governance.

Derogatory remarks about Reena Gupta

In September 2023, Indian politician and lawyer Reena Gupta accused Gaurav Bhatia of making derogatory remarks about her on a TV debate show. Talking about the matter, Raina said in an interview that she had gone to the Nizamuddin police station to file a complaint against Gaurav; however, the police refused to register her complaint.
