Gayle King got the surprise of her life thanks to Oprah, but we can’t say her choice of shoes surprised us—everyone from Reese Witherspoon to Hoda Kotb is wearing Sneex sneakers.
Earlier this month, Winfrey surprised King, her “best 50-year-old,” with a 70th birthday bash, and let’s just say the outfit did not disappoint. The former shone in a gold jumpsuit, while the birthday girl was dressed in a green dress with tassels and high-heeled Sneex sneakers.
Since best friends influence each other all the time (as evidenced by King’s monochromatic outfit!), we had a hunch it might happen: Oprah’s list of favorite things for 2024 included a mention of King and the brand’s shoes — albeit of a different style than the ones worn is this time. Oprah even wrote that King “wore [them] 12 hours straight!”

While The Tepper Hy-Heel Sneakers look like they’d meet the Grinch’s dress code, they won’t give you much to complain about: the toe box has extra room, so your toes shouldn’t rub against the edges of the shoe. The Teppers also have a firm “rubber-like sole,” according to the brand, and no buckles or laces — so slipping, tripping, or falling off smooth floors or untied laces is prevented, especially in bad winter weather.
Drew Barrymore also gifted Mariah Carey a pair, so we know they’re in more than a few celebs’ closets.

All Sneex shoes, including the Tepper, are designed to have a 50-50 weight distribution between the ball of the foot and the heel, according to the brand. My mom and I are hard at work testing another pair, The Icon, which is the same one that Oprah made her favorite list and the pair we spotted on Witherspoon. I can confirm that this makes them less painful than traditional heels.
After coming home from a night of wearing plain heels on Thanksgiving, my cheekbones really hurt. Just for the beat, I took them off, put on my pair of Sneex shoes, and I’m not kidding, all the pain went away immediately. I would assume the Tepper style would feel the same.
