The health of Gene Hackman declined months before his death on Wednesday, February 26.
On Wednesday, Hackman, his wife, Betsy Arakawa and their German Shepherd, were found dead in their Santa Fe home. Hackman, 95, and Arakawa, 65, were found in different parts of the house, according to a statement for a search order submitted by authorities. Two other dogs were found alive at the junction.
On Friday, February 28, family friends, married couple Daniel and Barbara Lenihan and their son Aaron, talked solely about people about their friendship with a couple for over thirty years. The family also revealed that Hackman’s health has decreased in recent months.
Daniel explained that “lately” hackman “was basically a kind of house.” Barbara explained that Hackman had stopped driving a bike through the neighborhood about a year ago. ”
Aaron said, “Betsy tried to maintain it somehow active and engaged,” adding that Hackman did puzzles and yoga via Zoom Daily. “She was still trying to maintain him as active as possible and engaged and healthy,” Aaron said.
Daniel and Barbara have noted in the “last few months”, the late actor “has really slid there.”
Barbara also told people that “Betsy was in perfect health” and “was so appropriate.”

Aaron revealed that “she was very protective of him in terms of covid, so she would always wear a mask if we saw her.”
He also said that “they were one of the strictest couples I saw.” Adding: “They seemed like real life partners, really, really close to each other, and both were incredibly kind. And they were reserved, but they were real, [and] A lot of fun. ”
“Yes, they are,” Barbara agreed. “Gene was proud of Betsy as she was from him. She was a concert pianist. She had a special building in their house, a studio that half of her big piano [and] The other half was Gene’s art studio. ”

After their death, Arakawa was found in the bathroom, in addition to the space heater and open bottle of tablets, the statement said. The tablets were identified as an indefinite thyroid medicine, tilenol and high blood pressure, diltiazem. Her body showed signs of “mumification”, which suggests she was probably dead for a while.
Hackman’s body showed similar “obvious signs of death.” Sheriff Adan Mendoza told reporters at a press conference on Friday, February 28, that the Oscar -winning acting Paysmejker was last operating on Monday, February 17, and was probably dead nine days before it was discovered on Wednesday.
It remains unclear who died first, and “it is very difficult to determine,” Mendoza said.

Hackman’s family initially believed that the couple may have died of carbone monoxide poisoning. But Mendoza said on Friday that they tested negatively to the date and that the cause of death was excluded.
Authorities still do not doubt a light game. The results of autopsy and toxicology, which are expected in the coming weeks, are likely to offer more traces.
