She started her modeling career at the age of 15 and collaborated with Amitabh Bachchan to shoot advertisements for Parker Pen, which attracted widespread public attention.
In 2003, she made her Bollywood debut with the film “Tujhe Meri Kasam”.
Meanwhile, she made her debut in Tamil films with the film “Boys” in 2003 and in Telugu films with the film “Satyam”.
2006 was a turning point in her South Indian film career; she shot two Telugu films in early 2006: “Happy” and “Raam”, followed by the hit “Bommarillu”.

Many Bollywood actors and South Indians boycotted the event due to the 2009 conflict between the Sri Lankan Army and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which allegedly killed Tamils in Sri Lanka. The rumors started when Ritesh Deshmukh was spotted at a music festival in Colombo. Several Tamil groups and Tollywood associations demanded her ban.
