Genshin Impact 2.2: Should Players Pull For Staff Of Homa Or Hu Tao?

The second limited banner for Genshin Impact’s 2.2 update is in full swing. The five star character currently being featured is Hu Tao, a Pyro polearm. Hu Tao’s signature weapon, Staff of Homa, is also available on the Weapons Banner during this update. Both Hu Tao and the Staff of Homa are very popular amongst the Genshin Impact community – and for good reason, as they are both incredibly powerful. But Primogems can be hard to come by, and some players may have to choose between the two.

Hu Tao and Staff of Homa have been available before earlier in the year, but quite a few players may have missed out on their initial release, especially new players. Hu Tao and Staff of Homa are considered to be among the best character and weapons in the game. Hu Tao hits incredibly hard with her Charged Attacks, and Staff of Homa has fantastic stats and works well with many characters. But because Genshin Impact is a gacha game, players will need to rely on luck to be able to get both Hu Tao and her signature polearm, unless they are willing to spend some real life money.

Perhaps one of the most popular characters in Genshin Impact, Hu Tao is truly fantastic. Not only is her design unique and quirky, but she hits like the truck. For those who are unfamiliar with her, Hu Tao scales off of her max HP, so the damage she does is dependent on this stat. Additionally, for her Elemental Burst, if Hu Tao is below 50% HP, her attack damage is increased. To balance out the damage she takes from her Skill, Hu Tao’s Burst also regenerates a percentage of her HP every time she strikes an enemy while the Burst is active. For some players, her HP may be a little difficult to manage without the right artifacts, which is necessary to maximize her power.

Genshin Impact: Hu Tao Or Staff Of Homa?

Whether or not players “need” to pull for Hu Tao in Genshin Impact will depend on a few things. If players have a good Xiangling build or a strong DPS in general, they may find that Hu Tao isn’t all that useful for them – but if they are lacking that power, she could be very helpful. Even if they have a powerful Pyro DPS, Hu Tao’s play style is a lot of fun, and she is one of the stronger characters in Genshin Impact overall. A good way to gauge whether or not to pull for her is to do her Trial Run a few times. Some players may find that her play style alone is worth the Primogems.

Players can also choose to pull for Staff of Homa in Genshin impact. The largest obstacle to getting this weapon is the banner itself. The Weapons Banner in Genshin Impact works differently that the other banners because of the Optimized Path. Through this system, players can choose the featured weapon they’d prefer to get, and after pulling two other five star weapons, their preferred weapon is guaranteed. While they could certainly pull their desired weapon earlier, it can take an extra 80 wishes (or 12,800 Primogems) to get Staff of Homa.

While this weapon is incredibly strong with a CRIT damage substat, players could run out of Primogems long before it is guaranteed. Additionally, if the player loses the 50/50 on the Character Banner, that pity will roll over for the next featured character. That is not the case with the Weapons Banner, and they could go home empty handed. That being said, Genshin Impact’s Staff of Homa works very well with quite a few characters like Zhongli and Thoma. If players already have Hu Tao or are in need of a good weapon, this might be the better choice.

The last thing to keep in mind while deciding which to pull for is Genshin Impact 2.3, as Arataki Itto has been confirmed to be releasing during this update. If players are excited for this new Geo character, they may want to skip Hu Tao and Staff of Homa all together. Gathering the necessary Primogems in Genshin Impact can take a lot of time (or money), and while the current banners are great to pull on, players may need to decide now if they want to save instead.
