Giada De Laurentiis may have debuted her most unique recipe yet!
In a recent TikTok shared on her official account, the famous chef and restaurateur, 54, showed friends and fans a favorite childhood dish that made many do a double take.
A recent video shows De Laurentiis and two other women taking turns trying chocolate pasta.
“Okay, this is my childhood favorite,” he says as he holds the dish on display at the start of the clip. “When I’ve had a bad day – chocolate pasta.”
De Laurentiis then put the bowl down and said, “Ladies, would you like to try it?” while two more joined her.
“I don’t know how I’m going to feel about this,” said one of the girls as they grabbed their spoons to dig in. After both took a bite, they agreed that it was like eating “Nutella toast” or “Nutella crepe” adding that it was “very good”.

Her comment section on TikTok has received mixed reviews.
“This is like from Dwarf,” one user wrote, referring to Will Ferrell’s 2003 Christmas comedy in which his character Buddy ate spaghetti, maple syrup, chocolate syrup, M&Ms, marshmallows and a chocolate chip Pop Tart mixed together for breakfast.
Several commenters said they thought De Laurentiis and her friends were eating snails.
In another post shared by TikTok earlier this week, the former Food Network star responded to a user who asked for a recipe in her original post.
“A bowl of pasta, topped [with] some chocolate,” she said in her response video, which again featured the sweet dish. “Honestly, nothing is as comforting as a hug.”
De Laurentiis admitted her recipe was “not the sexiest dish” but insisted it was “damn good” before continuing with the lesson.
She started with a clip of cooking the pasta shells before adding the chocolate spread when they were done. For extra shine, she also topped the dish with grated chocolate as a substitute for “Parmesan”.
And while chocolate pasta may not be perfect for everyone’s palate, De Laurentiis recently spoke with PEOPLE about her cookbook, which is sure to have something you’ll love.

“After that book tour and the COVID illness, I realized that part of my upbringing was not so rigid,” De Laurentiis told PEOPLE.
“We ate pasta and we ate desserts and drank some wine. It’s more about finding that balance, and I think I was able to do that during COVID when I wasn’t traveling as much, and I was able to really focus on getting back to my roots a little bit more and not participating in the rat race of my day-to-day.”
