Girlfriend Who Refuses to Share Bathroom with Boyfriend in the Morning Sparks Debate: ‘Compromise and Communicate’

A woman who refuses to share a bathroom with her boyfriend in the morning has sparked a debate on the Internet.

In a post shared on Reddit Am I the A——? forum, the 24-year-old wrote that she and her boyfriend (25) moved into a one-bedroom apartment last month where they share one bathroom.

The user described that her boyfriend “started coming into the bathroom when I’m there and using it.” She added that she would understand if her partner needed to go to the bathroom “once or twice” if he “needed to go”, but stressed that her problem was that she wanted “some privacy”.

The woman also explained that she and her boyfriend “leave early in the morning” and that she felt uneasy after her partner said that sharing a bathroom “isn’t that weird.”

“This is my first long-term relationship, so I don’t know if it’s normal and if I’m just doing a big job, but the apartment is small, I just want some space,” the Reddit user concluded. “I feel like we’re living [on] sometimes one above the other.”

“If you both need to go to work early, and it’s about getting ready, there are things you don’t have to do in the bathroom. Besides showering, shaving, and using the toilet or sink. Dressing, putting on makeup, blow-drying your hair, etc. are things that can be done. somewhere else,” one user wrote.

“You have to work together. Maybe one has to get up 15 minutes early and you both take it in turns. You have to learn to work together and compromise,” the person added.

Another agreed with that sentiment, writing, “This is what you do in a relationship, compromise and find a way to work together.”

Another commenter said: “Husband and I have been together for almost 30 years and the only time there is no sharing is when we poop. But remember once you have kids (and sometimes pets) even that privacy can go out the window.”
