Gisele Bündchen Tears Up in Emotional Interview About Divorce from Tom Brady and Navigating Her Love Life Now

Gisele Bündchen is getting candid about her 2022 divorce from Tom Brady, which she previously called “the death of my dreams.”

In a teaser video for her upcoming date with Robin Roberts, Bündchen was asked about that particular quote and her divorce. Roberts wondered how Bündchen was doing now, a year and a half after her divorce was finalized, and the supermodel had softened.

Bündchen put on a brave face as she tried to answer, but turned away from the camera, asking, “Can I have a moment?”

Bündchen, 43, and Brady, 46, finalized their divorce in October 2022, shortly after announcing they were separating after 13 years of marriage. In an interview from April 2023 vanity fairshe denied that Brady’s football career was the downfall of their marriage.

She called the buzz “very painful” and “the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.” Bündchen continued about her ex-husband: “Listen, I’ve always been rooting for him, and I will forever.”

“If there is one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me,” she added. “I want him to achieve and win. I want all his dreams to come true. That’s what I want for him, really, from the bottom of my heart.”

In the teaser for Bündchen’s upcoming “IMPACT x Nightline: Gisele Bündchen: Climbing the Mountain,” she also touched on where her love life stands now.

Roberts asked her if she would be able to “open her heart to someone again,” to which Bündchen kind of shrugged her shoulders with a slight smile on her face. She added: “Where my heart is now, I am there now. I live my truth and I make no apologies for it.”

After the divorce, Bündchen, who shares daughter Vivian, 11, and son Benjamin, 14, with Brady, became close with the family’s jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, and a source confirmed to PEOPLE in February that the two had been dating since June.

“They’re taking it slow. They started out as great friends first. She’s very private about it and wanted to keep it quiet until they met,” a source told PEOPLE.

Another source confirmed that Bündchen and her family’s jiu-jitsu instructor developed feelings for each other over time after initially having a platonic relationship.

“They started out as friends,” another source told PEOPLE. “He was a great comfort to Gisele when she was going through a divorce. Their friendship turned romantic after the divorce.”

“IMPACT x Nightline: Gisele Bündchen: Climbing the Mountain” will be available to stream March 7 on Hulu.
