According to reports, Golaghat SP Rajen Singh had asked for five tickets for his family to go on an elephant safari, but Tarun Gogoi, a forest officer, could not make arrangements as all the tickets had been sold. However, according to reports, the Golaghat SP called him and reprimanded him using abusive words. After that, he picked up the forestry officer at midnight and illegally kept him in the Kohora police station for more than four hours. “I spoke to the Director General of Police, Assam Sri @gpsinghips regarding the incident involving the Superintendent of Police, Golaghat,” the Assam Chief Minister wrote on X after the situation became public. We oppose arrogance, and public officials should maintain humility in their attitudes and actions.”
“I have read it in the newspapers and we have to consider what both sides have to say about the incident,” Assam Director General of Police (DGP), Gyanendra Pratap Singh, said while responding to media queries on the incident.
