Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos' Crystal Gown Was Once Worn by Beyoncé — and Takes 700 Hours to Make!

Joan Vassos shined in the October 2 episode The Golden Bachelorand if her rose ceremony dress looked familiar, there’s a reason.

Vassos wore a Randi Rahm design — a lavender, diamante dress, to be exact — to hand out roses to her Golden Bachelors, and the light purple dress featured a plunging neckline and hand-embedded Swarovski crystals all over.

On October 3rd, Rahm took to YouTube to provide more details about the dress, revealing that the thousands of crystals actually took 600-700 hours to place on the dress. She also took a closer look at the dress, showing how it shimmered in the light and how delicate the piece was.

Rahm also provided red carpet history with her look, as a striking silhouette — rightfully so — worn by many celebrities before Vassos rocked it on this season of the ABC dating show. She noted that Beyoncé once wore a dress, which she did in 2005 for the Wall Street Concert Series in New York, where she performed (albeit in a different dress). Grammy winner Randi Rahm’s gown was pearl white and silver, and she added a pop of color with purple eye shadow. After all, it was 2005!

Mariah Carey also wore the dress in 2005, and her dress looked almost exactly like Beyoncé’s, but in a lighter white color. While Beyoncé’s dress had more of a nude feel, Carey’s dress sparkled in crisp white (perfect for the Christmas-loving winter queen!).

But perhaps the most impressive version of Rahm’s diamond dress was the one worn by Maria Menounos at the 2004 Oscars. Rahm created a custom piece that the actress will wear to the awards, and it was adorned with real diamonds. The dress is valued at $2.5 million, thanks to all of its sparkling jewels.

Menounos’ version of the dress had less tulle, so that the diamonds could be seen properly, and was a champagne shade. She added even more jewels and wore a pair of strappy heels.

During The Golden Bachelor rose ceremony, where Vassos duly showed off her sparkly gown, sent three other men packing on her quest to find love again (after previous Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner showed up to help her figure out what her heart wanted).

The Golden Bachelor airs Wednesdays at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
