Shaurya Bhardwaj was born on 23 March 1973 in Gurdaspur, Punjab (50 years old; as of 2023). He comes from a family with a military background. Shifuji studied in Gurukulam, Ernakulam, Kerala, under Brahmin Sabha chiefs Shastri Rewa Prasad Tripathi, Param Gurrukal M Krishna Ayer and Gurrukka KC Paniker. He also studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya and DR High School. Subsequently, he entered DAV Science College to further his studies. He also reportedly holds a Ph.D.

Shifuji began learning the basics of Kushti and yoga at the age of two and a half. He has been trained in various forms of martial arts including Akhara Kushti, Indian Hatha Yoga, Indian Traditional Weapons, Boxing, Ashtanga Yoga, Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, Triathlon, Kalaripayattu, Gymnastics, Athletics and Mallakhamb. He holds the title of ‘Guruswamy’ in the oldest martial art ‘Kalaripayattu’.

Shifuji belongs to a Hindu family. His father, Rudra Bhan K. Bhardwaj, a well-known Pehalwan and Ustaad of Kushti Akhara, worked in a gun cart factory. His mother Nitambara Devi Joodhev Bhardwaj is a teacher. His mother worked with poor children, providing them with free education. Shifu has a brother Major General SK Bhardwaj and a sister Ritambhara Thakur.

His grandfather was a member of the legendary Hindustan Socialist Republican Association and was also famous for his involvement in the Kakoli Train Robbery.
Shifuji’s husband Swarnim Aarti Shaurya Bhardwaj, a former bureaucrat, is currently the chief managing director of two companies. The couple has a son Veerbhan Pratap Shaurya Bhardwaj and a daughter Atiksha Shaurya Bhardwaj.

Profession
Shifuji founded Mission Prahar in 1999 with a vision to educate, train and empower women across the country. He invented many “anti-rape tactics”, “self-defense plans” and “extreme survival tactics” for women. Shifuji also invented commando training systems as a freelancer, which include “Shatru Vinashak Killing Skills” (S2KS), “Extreme Urban Combat Mechanics” (EUWM) and “Special Commando VIP CQB Protection Skills”.

He is the Founder and Managing Director of SASS (Advanced Security Solutions by SHIFUJI) which includes “Mission Bhagat Singh”, “Mission Meri Mitti”, “Mission Military & Mission Compulsory Disaster Management Training”, “Mission Bharat Vishwaguru” ”, “Mission Bharat Vishwaguru”, “Mission Meri Mitti” and other missions. Prachand Bharat”, “Indian Patriot Mission” and “Revolutionary Pride Mission”.
Shifuji trained several Bollywood actors for the action scenes in the film. He has trained Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Vidyut Jammwal, Kajol, Tiger Shroff, Ahan Shetty, Shraddha Kapoor and Athiya Shetty.

Bhardwaj has also created a YouTube channel through which he shares his patriotic videos. He has been invited as a motivational speaker by many educational institutions.
According to a video shared by the Shifuji guru on YouTube, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced Shifuji as the brand ambassador of Madhya Pradesh.

- In 2016, Abhishek Shukla filed an FIR against Shifuji with the Ahmedabad Crime Branch to investigate the true identity of Master Shifuji, who claimed to be a trainer of the Indian Army. Abhishek also lodged a similar complaint with the Mumbai Police Commissioner. He also filed an RTI with various defense agencies asking for the name of Shifuji’s army. Abhishek received reports from the Indian Navy that they did not have anyone like Shifuji Shourya Bhardwaj as Marine Corps Commander or Marine Corps Commander Trainer in their service. Later, Master Juto made several videos stating that he never claimed to be a commander in the military. Shifuji also added that if you ask the wrong question, you cannot expect RTI to give the right answer.

- Abhishek Shukla, along with Major Ashish Chaturvedi, filed an FIR against him alleging that he was wearing some high-ranking insignia at will, including maroon beret, Marcos insignia and the Balidan emblem of the Indian Ministry of Defense. However, after a long investigation, Juto was cleared by the investigation team.

- Master Shifuji claims to be the brand ambassador of Madhya Pradesh. RTI inquired about this and in his response, the General Manager of the Madhya Pradesh Publicity Department clearly mentioned that the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department had never appointed any brand ambassador between 1955 and 2016. Internet investigation proved that the Facebook page is managed by the fan club and not by Master Shifuji. However, there is a video on YouTube in which the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh announced Master Shifuji as the Brand Ambassador of Madhya Pradesh at the TT Nagar Stadium in Bhopal on January 23, 2012.
