Grantchester: Tom Brittney’s next project revealed after quitting ITV role

Grantchester star Tom Brittney recently announced that the ninth series of the ITV show will be his last outing as Pastor Will Davenport – but what will he do next?

The actor, 32, who replaced James Norton as the main star in 2019, will appear in a Hollywood film that brings together big names on the A-list; Netflix’s upcoming action comedy, Return to activity.

Tom confirmed this exciting news on his Instagram in March when he shared a photo from the studio. Footage shows the 32-year-old smiling for a selfie as he stands in front of a sign that reads: “Netflix at Shepperton Studios”. He wrote in the caption, “This is the finale,” along with the hashtag: “#backinaction.”

The new film features an all-star cast, including Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx, as well as Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott and Jamie Demetriou.

What does Tom Brittney say about leaving Grantchester?

Tom shared a statement about his departure from the ITV series. “I’ve had a great time playing Will Davenport for the past 5 years,” he began, adding, “I had to solve cases with my best friend and work with the cast and crew. Best movie I could ask for.

“I’ll miss him more than anything. But the time has come for a transfer of power, as it has been for me, and I’m delighted Rishi is joining the Grantchester family.”

Who will replace Tom Brittney at Grantchester?
