Guillermo Del Toro Says Haunted Hotel Room He Stayed in While Filming Frankenstein Has ‘Something Angry’ in It

Guillermo del Toro, Oscar-winning director Pan’s Labyrinth and The shape of waterhas experience creating his own horror on the big screen — but he may be living in the middle of an actual movie.

Earlier this week, del Toro, 59, began sharing his experience of staying in the “most haunted” room of a hotel built in the 1800s in Aberdeen, Scotland, while filming the new film adaptation Frankenstein.

The director wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, August 20: “I’m in the most haunted room – vacated by one of our producers this morning. Strange electrical and physical events scared her to leave ASAP. Stay tuned – if If something happens, I’ll let you know.”

Del Toro said he “always” stays in the “most haunted rooms” in hotels, but only once did he experience “something supernatural.”

On Thursday, August 22, del Toro announced the news. Nothing happened yet, but there was an “oppressive” atmosphere in the room and he didn’t want to stay in that room anymore.

“Maybe it’s a suggestion, but at this point I’ve kept it, but I sleep in another room — I need 6 hours of sleep to have a good day of shooting — I stop there early and late in the day — but there’s something in that room with me.” , he wrote. “If anything happens or Nothing happens, expect another update or two.”

After finishing filming on Thursday, del Toro returned to the room. “The room has more than just vibes,” he wrote. “There is something angry and territorial about it. A hint of anger.”

But before leaving the room, del Toro shared two photos, including a self-portrait with mirror stains blurring his image.
