Gwyneth Paltrow Says Robert Downey Jr. ‘Could Probably Always Get Me Back’ into Acting

Gwyneth Paltrow could be persuaded to return to the big screen.

The founder of Goop revealed Party tonight at the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City on Monday that she might consider returning to acting, even though she’s been completely immersed in her work at her lifestyle company, especially if the right person asks her out.

“Well, right now it would be very difficult for me to act properly, just because of my job,” Paltrow, 51, said. “But I guess Robert Downey Jr. could probably always bring me back.”

From her Iron man The costar’s influence on whether she’ll be open to acting again, she added with a laugh, “You know, to an extent.”

The Emma the actress has “forged” a close friendship with Downey, 58, over the years after the pair starred in multiple Marvel movies as Pepper Potts and Tony Stark/Iron Man, respectively.

However, Paltrow moved away from acting almost entirely after becoming more involved with Goop and taking on the role of CEO of the company in 2016. She also told ET that she is proud of what she managed to achieve in the brand during the last year.

“It takes a lot of effort and persistence, but you know, I do it with so much love, so I’m glad to see that we’ve been able to build year after year. It’s exciting,” the Oscar winner said.

Last month, Paltrow made the admission during a Q&A at a launch event for good.clean.goop. that having a now 19-year-old daughter, Apple (whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin, along with son Moses, 17), is what made her slowly turn from acting to entrepreneurship.

“I think women in particular have very different chapters in their lives and I think we should feel free to lean into whatever incarnation comes with the next chapter,” the actress said. “For me, it was a couple of things. After I got Apple, I really didn’t want to fly off and leave [on] place, and I wanted to be at home.”

“I was really lucky to be able to do that and take this break and be home and have my little kids,” she continued. “And then I had a voice inside me: ‘I don’t know if I really want to go back to that.’ ”

Paltrow also said on Sunday TODAY during an interview last year that she fully immersed herself in her role at Goop and didn’t “miss” her acting career “at all.”

“I think I’m so happy that I got to do it, and I’m sure I will continue to do it at some point,” she said of acting during the interview.

Paltrow added, “The team is always trying to get me to do a movie, but I really love what I do and I love how immediate it is and how … we can create a product out of thin air that we believe in so much.”
