Ayo Edebiri Hands Carson Daly Her Purse to Accept Her Emmy Award, Jokes He ‘Still Has My Stuff’ 

Ayo Edebiri got a little help from her friends — in this case, Carson Daly — when she emerged victorious at the 2023 Emmy Awards.

Bear The 28-year-old actress had an interesting moment while accepting her Emmy award on Monday night when she asked Vote presenter to help hold her bag as she walked out on stage to collect her awards.

When Christina Applegate announced Edebiri as the winner for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, the actress could immediately be seen zipping up her black purse and attempting to place it on her seat before handing it over to her co-star Daly, who was ready and willing to help , as seen in video posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Daly, 50, appeared to say: “I’ve got it,” as he took her purse with both hands. Edebiri then turned and hugged her co-stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Jeremy Allen White, who were also seated near her, before accepting the award on stage.

Later in the press room, the actress joked that her parents were in the “cheap seats” away from her, which meant she had to turn to Daly to hold her bag.

“Carson Daly still has my stuff!” she shared.

Edebiri had another similar moment earlier in the event, when she used the moment to help her friend, Better call Saul‘s Rhea Seehorn, with her makeup while in the middle of the red carpet bustle.

In the video, Edebiri, 28, can be seen carefully touching up Seehorn’s smokey eye makeup. Seehorn, 51, appears to say “thank you very much” as bottom the star nodded to her, signaling that her work was done.

Edebiri, whose appearance comes after winning the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, wore a Louis Vuitton sculptural leather dress with the brand’s heels and Brilliant Earth jewelry

Edebiri was on hand to introduce many of the nominees Bear, while Daly was present as partVotewhich was nominated for an excellent reality competition program.

While speaking on PEOPLE’s live stream before the show, Edebiri opened up about what it was like to celebrate her accomplishments with her “close-knit” onscreen family, which also included her co-star White.

“Exciting is definitely the word and I think we all feel very grateful,” she said. “We really made the series for nothing with no expectations, so to have people embrace it on this level, both culturally and critically, is a real blessing.”
