Earlier this week, I spotted Gwyneth Paltrow wearing a striped shirt in a few Instagram selfies during her travels, and to be honest, I was completely taken aback. Not because it wasn’t fashionable, but mostly because I thought everyone was comfortably dressed on airplanes. But then it dawned on me: Maybe shirt dresses are just that.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen stars rock the laid-back style — other fans include Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba and Meghan Markle — nor was it the first time Paltrow herself has replicated the style. TL;DR: Why would so many stars choose to wear shirt dresses in their everyday lives if they’re not comfortable?

There’s a possibility that Paltrow changed on the plane as she approached her destination, but in theory, the shirt is actually very stylish airplane attire: it’s not restrictive, the sleeves can be rolled up or down when the temperature is fluctuating, and it’s long enough that your legs don’t touch seat — my personal pain.

Her exact style is probably this $595 dress from her label G. Label by Goop, but this $32 Old Navy option bears a close resemblance. The only major difference seems to be the lack of a strap, but I’d probably take it off for a trip anyway.
