The airline passenger reconsiders his decision not to switch seats.
Reddit user WineCountsAsFruit took to the platform’s “Am I A——” forum to describe an in-flight confrontation with another passenger and asked fellow Redditors which passenger was in the wrong.
“So I’m getting on the plane, settling into my economy plus seat,” the passenger began, before explaining that a woman then approached her and asked her to switch seats to 32B so her 9-year-old son could sit with her. .
“I’m asking how much cash he has to give me back for the money I spent on the seat,” the passenger recalled his response during the incident on the plane. “She says I’m cruel for leaving her son to sit alone with anxiety.”

Resident says neighbor Karen’s yoga classes have crept onto his lawn, which she calls ‘common nature’: ‘Am I exaggerating?’
The Redditor suggested that the woman try sitting with her son on the bus instead of having him join her in the more expensive seats, to which she said she “needs legroom.”
“I made it clear that she cared more about her own comfort than her son’s well-being, [and that] if she cared, she would have given up her seat and moved to the back,” the passenger continued.
Then the mother obviously became emotional.
“She breaks into a screaming howl filled with ‘HOW COULD YOU,'” the passenger noted, adding that “10 minutes later a smiling man sits down next to me, smiling at his sweet upgrade.”
However, now the Redditor is questioning the decision not to give up the spot, concluding the post by saying, “My partner says that IATAH [I am the a——-] because I questioned her parentage in public and made her cry…did I?”

Man says ‘It’s not my problem’ that his roommate thinks he’s making ‘too much noise’ playing games after midnight
The post has more than 1,300 comments as of Friday, Nov. 22, with many users agreeing with the original poster (OP).
“NTA [not the a——-]. She is wrong for not being able to plan and book in advance so that her son is not left alone, for not being able to put aside her comfort in front of her precious son and think that anyone owes her anything because she is a bad planner,” one person commented.
In response to the comment, the OP provided more context, writing, “When I booked my spot, hers was already taken so she booked first. It didn’t look like poor planning, it looked like she only wanted to pay for one premium seat and wanted to make me give up my seat.”
Another commenter said that the woman definitely broke the basic etiquette of switching seats.
“Everyone knows that if you want to switch seats, always offer a better seat to the person you’re inconveniencing,” the person wrote.
