Harinder pal Sandhu started playing squash at the age of 10. At the age of 13, he moved with his coach from Mohali to Chennai to train in squash with the Indian Squash Association (ISA), where he was mentored by Cyrus Poncha, Ashraf Karagui and David Palmer. In 2005, he joined the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and turned professional in the same year. In 2019, he defeated eight-time champion Saurav Ghosal to win the national title. He was part of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games gold medalist India team. In the opening match, Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu defeated Malaysia’s Mohd Azlan 11-8, 11-6, 8-11, 11-4. Mohd Azlan Iskandar, India lead Malaysia 1-0.

During the CCI International Squash Open in Mumbai in January 2019, Harinder injured his back and was unable to compete. After a gap of 9 months, he made a comeback in the HCL SRFI India Tour.
