Harleen Deol is an Indian cricketer who plays as a batsman for the Indian women’s national cricket team. Harleen Deol, a right-handed batsman and right-arm leg-spin and leg-off bowler, is the second women cricketer from Chandigarh to play for India (after Tanya Bhatti after Asia). Harleen shot to fame with her ‘catch of the year’ against England in the first T20 match in July 2021. Harleen Deol was signed by Gujarat Giants on February 13, 2023 for Rs. 4 million.

Her father hails from Patiala, Punjab. She attended Yadwindra Public School, Mohali. Harleen studied at MCM DAV College, Chandigarh, pursuing a degree in Arts. She developed an interest in cricket at an early age and started playing with her brother at the age of seven. Soon she began accompanying her brother to a nearby park, where she played cricket with him and his friends. While her brother continued his studies, he stopped playing cricket. However, Harleen continued to play cricket with other boys in the park. Watching Deol (the only girl) play cricket with the boys, her neighbors often complained about her to her mother, who often ignored her. Once, when Harleen was in third grade, Praveen Sinha, her school’s cricket coach, noticed her bowling to the best batsman in the class. The coach was impressed by her skills at such a young age and invited her to try out for the U-19 varsity team. She was eight years old that year. After being selected in the trials, Harleen started playing inter-school matches for the school’s cricket team. Later, she started playing inter-district cricket under the guidance of coach RP Singh. Dale idolized Brett Lee as a child. Since Harleen occasionally bowled leg-spin as a variation, her coach once asked her to play for the Punjab Junior Team, where leg-spin was required.

Harleen Deol started representing the Punjab women’s team in junior championships at the age of 10. After playing a few games for Punjab, Harleen moved to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in search of better opportunities. In 2015, she scored 116 points for North District against East District in a cross-district tournament. In 2017, while playing for the Punjab women’s team in a tournament, Del fractured her finger and was ruled out of the team for the entire season.
Harleen, who had earlier played as a lower-order batsman, started as an opener after the match against Hyderabad and her team soon took four wickets and scored 22 runs. After Dole came on the court, she hit 100 points. The coach was impressed with her performance, told her that she was hitting the ball better than some of the top batsmen, and asked her to open the next game. In the next opener, she scored 49 points. Harleen also played a few games for the Indian Reds women’s football team.

In February 2019, Harleen Deol took over the ODI cap from Jhulan Goswami, becoming the second player from Chang after Taniya Bhatia. An Indian women’s cricketer from Dhigar, who made it to the Indian women’s national team.
Del made her One-Day International (ODI) debut for India against England on 22 February 2019 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
T20
Harleen Deol made her T20 international debut against England Women on March 4, 2019 in Guwahati. In January 2020, she participated in the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia with the Indian team. Harleen has also played for India A Women’s Team and India C Women’s Team.
Women’s T20 Challenge
Harleen Deol made her debut for IPL Trail Blazers against IPL Supernovas in the Women’s T20 Challenge on 6 May 2019. In this match, she partnered with Smriti Mandhana and scored a brilliant score of 119 runs. She plays for the Trail Blazers until 2020.
In 2022, she started playing for IPL Supernovas.
Commonwealth Games
In July 2022, she represented India at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, as a member of the Indian women’s team. The team defeated the England women’s team by four points in the semi-finals to reach the final. However, in the final match of the tournament, India lost to Australia by nine runs and won the silver medal.

Apparently, Jones, who was batting at 43 in the 19th over of the 19th over, bowled the ball towards the boundary off the bowling of Shikha Pandey in the hope of clearing the infield. However, when the ball reached near the rope, Del, who was in the distance, timed his jump perfectly and caught the ball safely.
